Do not apply excessive force to the DC plug or cable while the AC adapter and camera are connected. Failure to observe this precaution may result in malfunction. Before connecting the AC adapter,  be sure the camera is off. Follow these steps to connect the adapter (Figure 2; illustration shows COOLPIX5000): 1 Plug the AC adapter plug into the AC adapter (Figure 2-a). Open the door which covers the DC IN connector and insert the DC plug into the DC IN connector (Figure 2-b). The FCC requires the user to be notified that any changes or modifications made to this device that are not expressly approved by Nikon Corporation may void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
