THE USE OF NON-NIKON ELECTRONIC ACCESSORIES COULD DAMAGE THE CAMERA AND MAY VOID YOUR NIKON WARRANTY. The use of third-party rechargeable Li-ion batteries not bearing the Nikon holographic seal* could interfere with normal operation of the camera or result in the batteries overheating, igniting, rupturing, or leaking. For more information about Nikon brand accessories, contact a local authorized Nikon dealer. * Holographic seal: Identifies this device as an authentic Nikon product. 2 62 GER MH- AR CH RY Warranty Warranty Parts of the Camera The main parts of the COOLPIX P1/P2 are shown below. Step 2 Charge the battery Read Battery Warnings Read and follow the battery warnings and notices on pages ii - vii and 152 in the Nikon Guide to Digital Photography, together with any warnings and instructions supplied by the battery manufacturer. The standard install includes: · PTP drivers for COOLPIX-series cameras (Windows XP only) · Nikon Mass Storage Camera Drivers (Windows 98 SE only) · Panorama Maker · Apple QuickTime 6 · Nikon FotoShare (Europe only) · PictureProject · Wireless Camera Setup Utility 1. 0 (Windows XP only) · Microsoft® DirectX 9 The first components to be installed are the camera drivers. Follow the on-screen instructions to install DirectX 9. n Install Software (on CD) Software installation is complete. Dialog displayed if DirectX is installed * Restart the computer if the screen to restart appears. 18 Windows When installation is complete, the PictureProject Import Assistant will be displayed. To transfer the pictures as they are taken using PictureProject, click Close to exit the Import Assistance. The Import Assistant is used to catalog pictures already on the computer for display in PictureProject. After exiting the Import Assistant, remove the Wireless Camera Setup Utility/PictureProject installer CD from the CD-ROM drive. Software Updates* Install Software (on CD) If the computer is connected to the Internet, a Nikon Message Center update dialog may sometimes be displayed when PictureProject starts. Follow the on-screen instructions to update to the latest version of PictureProject. * - Not available in Spain or Italy. Click Yes to add PictureProject to the Dock. After adding PictureProject to the dock, the "The software was successfully installed" dialog will be displayed. Click Quit to complete installation of PictureProject. For Mac OS X 10. 3 (or later) users, the Setup Utility is then installed and starts (P. 24). Install Apple QuickTime 6 following the on-screen instructions. If Apple QuickTime 6 or later is already installed, Apple QuickTime 6 is not installed. When the dialog shown at right is displayed, click Continue. Do not complete the "Registered To, " "Organization, " and "Registration Number" fields. On some systems, the QuickTime installer may require considerable time to complete installation. n Install Software (on CD) Software installation is complete. After exiting the Import Assistant, open the "FotoShare" folder on the Wireless Camera Setup Utility/PictureProject installer CD and install Nikon FotoShare by dragging the Nikon FotoShare icon to the "Applications" folder on the hard disk (note that Nikon FotoShare is included only with the European release of PictureProject). When copying is complete, remove the Wireless Camera Setup Utility/PictureProject installer CD from the CD-ROM drive. Install Software (on CD) Software Updates* If the computer is connected to the Internet, a Nikon Message Center update dialog may sometimes be displayed when PictureProject starts. Follow the on-screen instructions to update to the latest version of PictureProject. * - Not available in Spain or Italy. [. . . ] After checking the USB option, turn the camera off. Turn the camera off. · When transferring pictures on a memory card, insert the memory card. Important Transfer and Display Pictures Turn the computer on and wait for the operating system to start up.
