Flash with red-eye reduction [EJL
"Red-eye" is a phenomenon in flash photography, whereby the central areas of a subject's eyes appear bright red in color pictures, and white in B/W pictures To substantially reduce the red-eye effect, the camera is equipped with a red-eye reduction lamp mechanism. When you press the shutter release button, the red-eye reduction lamp lights up for approximately 1 second before the main flash fires and the picture is taken This causes the subject's pupils to become smaller, reducing the red-eye effect. Red-eye reduction functions in any flash mode except flash-cancel mode. 53
