[. . . ] Depending on the option selected for this setting, the AE-L/AF-L and focus-area selector button can be used as follows: Playback ends when the voice memo record/playback button is pressed a second time, the entire recording has been played back, or the battery indicator flashes in the control panel. Playback will also end if you press any of the buttons on the back of the camera or return the camera to (monitor) butshooting mode by pressing the camera ton, the camera shutter-release button, or the shutter-release button for taking photographs in vertical (portrait) orientation on the N2000. Voice memos can not be played back when: · playback zoom is in effect · Photographs are being taken or recorded to the memory card · The N2000 takes one or two rechargeable Nikon ENEL3 lithium ion batteries, or, when used with the MSD100 holder (item 22 in Figure 1), six LR6 (AA) batteries. Before inserting batteries, be sure that the camera is off and that the N2000 control lock is in the locked position. [. . . ] Rotate the battery-chamber cover latch (item 13 in Figure 1) on the bottom of the N2000 as shown in Figure 2 (e) and open the battery-chamber cover. EN-EL3 batteries Insert one or two EN-EL3 as shown in the label on the underside of the battery chamber cover, sliding them in until they are securely in place in the clips (Figure 2 (f)). LR6 (AA) batteries Insert six LR6 (AA) batteries into the MS-D100 holder with the positive and negative terminals oriented as indicated. Insert the holder into the N2000 as shown in the label on the underside of the battery-chamber cover, sliding it in until it is securely in place in the clips (Figure 2 (g)). The N2000's built-in microphone (item 12 in Figure 1) can be used to record a voice memo (audio recording) from one to twenty seconds long. The resulting memo will be associated with a photograph on the camera memory card. Voice memos are stored on the camera memory card as audio files with the extension ". WAV, " and can be played back over the N2000's built-in speaker (item 9 in Figure 1). Each memo will be assigned a file name of the form "DSC_nnnn, " where nnnn is a four-digit file number assigned automatically by the camera. The FCC requires the user to be notified that any changes or modifications made to this device that are not expressly approved by Nikon Corporation may void the user's authority to operate the equipment. When inserting LR6 (AA) batteries into the MS-D100 holder, insert them on an angle as shown in the illustration. The following optional devices can be connected: · The control lock (item 20 in Figure 1) locks the shutterrelease button and main and sub-command dials for taking photographs in vertical (portrait) orientation and the AE-L/AF-L and focus area selector button, preventing accidental operation. Use the camera power switch to turn the camera and the N2000 on and off. The N2000 is equipped with a shutter-release button (item 19 in Figure 1), main command dial (item 16), and sub-command dial (item 18) for taking photographs in vertical (portrait) orientation. These controls perform the same functions as the camera shutter-release button, main command dial, and sub-command dial, respectively. Recording ends after twenty seconds, when the voice memo record/playback button is released, the shutter-release button is pressed half way or the battery indicator flashes in the control panel. Voice memos can not be recorded when: The voice memo record/playback button is held down for less than one second · Photographs are being taken or recorded to the memory card · When not using the ten-pin remote terminal, be sure to replace the ten-pin remote terminal cap (item 8 in figure 1). Before attaching the multi-function battery pack (referred to below as the N2000), confirm that the camera power switch is in the off position and that the N2000 control lock (item 20 in Figure 1) is in the locked position.
