This manual was prepared to help you understand the operation and maintenance of your vehicle so that you may enjoy many miles of driving pleasure. [. . . ] This brake warning light functions for both the parking brake and the foot brake systems. The brake warning light comes on when the parking brake is applied. Low brake fluid warning: When the key switch is in the ON position, the light warns of a low brake fluid level. If the light comes on while the key switch is ON position, stop the vehicle and perform the following: 1. See "Brake fluid" in the "9. If the brake fluid level is correct: Have the warning system checked by an authorized NISSAN EV representative. Vacuum assisted brake The brake booster aids braking by using vacuum. If the vacuum pump stops, you can stop the vehicle by depressing the brake pedal. However, greater foot pressure on the brake pedal will be required to stop the vehicle and the stopping distance will be longer. The brake warning light warns of a low brake Turn the wheels into the curb and move the vehicle forward until the curb side wheel gently touches the curb. 2 ¼ HEADED UPHILL WITH CURB: k The power assisted steering is designed to use a hydraulic pump to assist steering. The power steering warning light comes on when a problem occurs in the power steering system during vehicle operation. When the light comes on, heavy steering operation can sometimes be felt. If this occurs, extra effort is required to operate the steering wheel. When the light comes on, have your vehicle checked and repaired by an authorized NISSAN EV representative as soon as possible. If the key switch is OFF, you will still have control of the vehicle. However, much greater steering effort is needed, especially in sharp turns or at low speeds. Turn the wheels away from the curb and move the vehicle back until the curb side wheel gently touches the curb. ¼ HEADED UPHILL OR DOWNHILL, NO 3 CURB: k Turn the wheels toward the side of the road so the vehicle will move away from the center of the road if it moves. Turn the key switch to the LOCK position and remove the key. WARNING ¼ Never leave the READY indicator ON while the vehicle is unattended. ¼ Never leave children unattended in the vehicle. WARNING If the key switch is off or is turned off while driving, the power assist for the steering will not work. Steering will be much harder to operate. 5-12 Starting and driving booster vacuum. If the light comes on and the chime sounds while the key switch is in the ON position with the parking brake not applied, stop the vehicle and have the brake booster vacuum system checked by an authorized NISSAN EV representative. Wet brakes When the vehicle is washed or driven through water, the brakes may get wet.
