IMPORTANT NOTICE ScanSoft, Inc. [. . . ] Select Form if you are scanning a form to fill in later using the Pagis Editor. The lines of the form will be preserved. Select Photograph if you are scanning one or more photographs or color pictures, or if you want to scan a color document without segmentation. Select Business Card if you are scanning one or more business cards. The Scan Tool provides one Custom page type. Any Properties that you specify are maintained whenever you select Custom. Click the Properties button to fine-tune settings for the document you are about to scan. For example, you might want to adjust scanner brightness, color depth, or resolution, or turn on or off some of the page refinement settings. Additionally, you might want to specify a file name and location for the scanned document. Finally, you might want to add keyword search properties for the document. Refer to a previous section, "Changing default properties for scanned documents, " for complete information. Specify Save and Close options on the Scan Tool. Click the Auto Save checkbox off to display a standard Save As dialog box when scanning is complete. Otherwise the document is saved automatically to the default file name and location in Auto Save properties. Click the Close when done option off if you want the Scan Tool to remain open after you finish scanning a document. 4­42 Pagis Pro User's Guide Contents Index 6. Click the Scan button on the Scanner tab. As the page is being scanned, a Scanner Progress dialog box tracks scanning status. After the page is completely scanned, additional buttons appear on the dialog box, allowing you to scan more pages or end the job and save the scanned image (Figure 4­23). Insert the next page into the scanner, and click the More Pages button. A More Pages dialog box appears allowing you to select a different page type for this next page (Figure 4­24). See the glossary entries for these three items for more information. search index--In Pagis Pro, a folder of special files that is created to keep track of (index) scanned and electronic documents in all or part of a user's Windows file system.
