Start Surfing To start surfing on the Internet you use the Netscape Navigator tool, which is provided with your Enternet software. Netscape is an application designed to work with the Internet to enable you to access different sites and documents, and in particular to work with the World Wide Web (WWW). The WWW uses a computer protocol known as HTTP (Hypertext Transport Protocol). "Hypertext", as it is commonly referred to, is based on a computer language known as HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). This allows you to navigate to Web sites, files, documents and other areas by 'jumping' to a particular topic you want when you click on a hypertext 'hot spot', called a hyperlink. As you move your mouse across the display window you will notice that the cursor occassionally changes shape to a hand. Whenever this happens you can 'jump' to the desired item by clicking the mouse. When you click on a link, you go directly to that item. A hyperlink text is identified on a document by coloured, underlined text. Hyperlink graphics are enclosed in a coloured border. Also, every site on the Internet has a unique address, called a Uniform Resource Locator (URL).
