At the heart of the PASTM technology is a fully balanced differential DAC design ensuring the integrity of the sound signal during the entire signal path. The new OPUS Nº5 delivers an exceptionally accurate sound image, without being fatiguing. To ensure the precise timing of the music data flow from your OPUS library into the DAC, the OPUS uses a high-end TI DIR9001 Digital Audio Receiver and a separate temperature-compensated crystal oscillator. The resulting ultra low jitter performance of 10 ps (after reclocking) virtually eliminates jitter, which causes so many digital audio devices to sound unnatural and harsh. [. . . ] This separation ensures that the sensitive analog stages are isolated from all power supply artifacts, and that each stage within the OPUS is supplied independently with clean power. Additionally, two stages of regulation in the analog digital supply interface lower the impedance and provide better isolation, which results in less crosstalk between analog and digital supplies. A dedicated linear regulator for the clock generator further minimizes jitter. Unlike most other audio equipment the OPUS also uses custom-built low-noise toroidal transformers, which have been specifically manufactured for this high-end audio application. Benefits include an extremely low electromagnetic radiation, increased voltage regulation, high efficiency, low off-load power consumption, and up to 90% less mechanical hum.
