Do not mix different types of batteries or new and old batteries. When the camera is not to be used for an extended period of time (more than a year), remove the alkaline batteries from the camera to avoid damage from leakage. Keep spare batteries on hand when going on a long trip or to a cold area. Sweat and oil can prevent a battery's terminals from making electrical contact.
