You can store your favorite stations as presets for quick selection. Searching stops when a station is found. VCR MEMORY TUNER TUNING MODE When tuned into an FM station, the TUNED and FM STEREO indicators appear on the display, as shown. When tuned into an AM station, the TUNED indicator appears. TUNED AUTO Listening to the Radio 1 TUNER Use the [TUNER] input selector button to select either AM or FM. Manual Tuning Mode Band Frequency FM STEREO 1 MEMORY TUNING MODE CLEAR Press the [TUNING MODE] button so that the AUTO indicator disappears from the display. 2 TUNING Press and hold the TUNING Up or Down [ ]/[ ] button. The frequency stops changing when you release the button. Press the buttons repeatedly to change the frequency one step at a time. HT-R520 changes FM frequency in 0. 1 MHz steps, 10 kHz steps for AM. In Manual Tuning mode, FM stations will be in mono. Switch back to Auto Tuning mode for stereo. Tuning into weak FM stations If the signal from a stereo FM station is weak, it may be impossible to get good reception. In this case, switch to Manual Tuning mode and listen to the station in mono. 34 Using the Tuner--Continued Presetting Radio Stations You can store up to 30 of your favorite radio stations as presets. Deleting Presets 1 2 MEMORY TUNING MODE CLEAR 1 2 MEMORY TUNING MODE CLEAR Tune into the station that you want to store as a preset. The MEMORY indicator appears and the preset number flashes. Select the preset that you want to delete. While holding down the [MEMORY] button, press the [TUNING MODE] button. The selected preset is deleted and its number disappears from the display. 3 PRESET While the MEMORY indicator is displayed (about 8 seconds), use the PRESET [ ]/[ ] buttons to select a preset from 1 through 30. In this example, preset #3 is selected. Displaying Radio Information 1 DISPLAY Press the [DISPLAY] button repeatedly to cycle through the available information. 4 MEMORY TUNING MODE CLEAR Press the [MEMORY] button again to store the station. The station is stored and the preset number stops flashing. Repeat this procedure for all of your favorite radio stations. When the input source is AM or FM: Band, frequency & preset # Band & listening mode Selecting Preset Stations 1 TUNER Use the [TUNER] input selector button to select either AM or FM. 2 PRESET Use the PRESET [ ]/[ ] buttons, or the remote controller's CH [+/­] button to select the presets. 35 Common Functions This chapter explains functions that can be used with any input source. Before performing any of the procedures in this chapter, press the [AMP] button first to select AMP mode. OR-EQ _ + Use the TONE [­]/[+] buttons to adjust. Press the [OR-EQ] button to turn the OptiResponse equalizer on or off. Bass You can boost or cut low-frequency sounds output by the front speakers from ­12 dB to +12 dB in 2 dB steps. [. . . ] Preset your favorite radio stations again (page 35). The power cord must be plugged into a wall outlet a few times each month in order to preserve the presets. To prevent signal loops and damage to the HT-R520, input signals are not fed through to outputs with the same name (e. g. , TAPE IN/OUT or VIDEO 1 IN/OUT). Although you cannot record Dolby Digital or DTS surround channels, you can record the left and right channels by connecting the source AV component's analog left and right outputs to a pair of analog inputs on the HT-R520.
