Gently pull these cables out of the drive (hold by the connector and not the cable). Take the new hard drive and replace the power and data cable. IDE data cables Connect the flat grey cable to the long row of pins. You need to connect the cable so that the red or black stripe is next to the power cable. SATA data cables Connect the SATA data cables (grey or red) to the hard drive. You will notice it has an `L'-shaped connection and can only be fitted one way.
