It is recommended when vacuuming stairs to use the crevice tool, dusting brush, or air turbine. To prevent tipping, make sure vaccum is below you and resting against the bottom step or wall. MC-UL424 B) AUTOMATIC ADJUSTING NOZZLE 1 MC-UL426 Nozzle Deep Pile Carpet The nozzle of your Panasonic vacuum cleaner automatically adjusts to any carpet pile height. Feature allows nozzle to float evenly over carpet pile surfaces. No manual adjustments required. Shallow Pile Carpet Pivot Point C) OVERLOAD PROTECTION (MC-UL426 ONLY) 1 2 1 OVERLOAD PROTECTION RESET button The OVERLOAD PROTECTION RESET button stops the nozzle motor when the beater bar jams to prevent belt breakage. NOTE: The vacuum cleaner motor will continue to run. TO CORRECT PROBLEM: Unplug mains lead. Check nozzle areas for excessive lint buildup or jamming. TO RESET: Press reset button on top of the nozzle. turn on vacuum cleaner. - 12 - D) MOTOR PROTECTION SYSTEM THERMAL PROTECTOR This vacuum cleaner has a thermal protector which automatically trips to protect the vacuum cleaner from overheating. If a clog prevents the normal flow of air to the motor, the thermal protector turns the motor off automatically. This allows the motor to cool in order to prevent possible damage to the vacuum cleaner. Remove dust bin (See EMPTYING DUST BIN, page 14). Pull the dust bin lid latch and open the dust bin lid. Remove the primary filter. Wash with cold water only, DO NOT use detergent or soap. Once the filter is washed clean, squeeze by hand and allow to air dry. Allow filter to dry for 24 hours before placing back into vacuum cleaner. DO NOT operate without primary filter installed. DO NOT install damp. TO REPLACE FILTER: Place the primary filter into the dust bin lid. Be sure the dust bin lid latch snaps in place. A noticeable “click” should be heard. Reinstall the dust bin into the vacuum cleaner (See EMPTYING DUST BIN, page 14). D) HEPA MEDIA EXHAUST FILTER REPLACEMENT The exhaust filter removes dirt from exhaust air. Check the exhaust filter when emptying dust bin and replace when dirty.
