SQT0025 until 2014/1/24 Read this first ∫ About the recording format for recording motion pictures You can select from AVCHD*1, MP4 or iFrame recording formats to record motion pictures using this unit. (l 70) *1 It is compatible with the AVCHD Progressive (1080/50p). AVCHD: It is suitable for viewing on a high-definition TV or for saving to disc*2. *2 The following methods are available for saving an image recorded in 1080/50p: j Copy the image to a disc using the supplied software HD Writer LE 2. 1. [. . . ] Follow the instructions on the screen to format it. Once the USB HDD has been formatted, all data stored on it will be deleted. ≥ In the following cases, a USB HDD cannot be used by connecting it to this unit: j A USB HDD with a capacity of below 160 GB or above 2 TB j When a USB HDD has two or more partitions j If a USB HDD is in a format other than FAT32 j When connected by using a USB hub  USB Connection Cable (commercially-available) USB HDD (commercially-available) Turn the side with the symbol up to connect the micro A end of the USB Connection Cable to the USB terminal of this unit. ≥ Connect this unit to the AC adaptor A B C 1 (When using a desktop HDD) Connect the AC adaptor (supplied with USB HDD) to the USB HDD. ≥ If you are using a bus-powered or portable USB HDD, this unit can supply power to the USB HDD by USB Connection Cable (commercially-available). - 115 - 2 3 Connect the AC adaptor and a sufficiently charged battery to this unit, and press the recording/playback button to switch this unit to the Playback Mode. Connect this unit to the USB HDD with the USB Connection Cable (commercially-available). ≥ If the AC adaptor is not connected to this unit, the USB HDD cannot be used. ≥ Use a USB Connection Cable (commercially-available) compatible with the USB terminals of this unit and the USB HDD. Connect the micro A end of the USB Connection Cable to the USB terminal of this unit. For information on the USB terminal of the USB HDD, refer to the operating instructions of the USB HDD. ≥ It may take several minutes until the connection is completed. 4 Touch the desired item. Copies all scenes and still pictures recorded with this unit that have not been copied yet. (l 117) Allows you to select desired scenes/still pictures, and then copy. (l 118) Plays back scenes and still pictures stored in a USB HDD on this unit. (l 119) Allows you to safely remove this unit and a USB HDD. [Simple copy]: [Copy selected files]: [Playback HDD]: [Safe Removal]: ≥ Following can be performed by connecting the USB HDD with the scenes and still pictures copied from this unit to other devices. j Playback on Panasonic TV with a USB terminal j Dub onto the Panasonic Blu-ray disc recorder with a USB terminal j Save on a PC or rewrite on USB HDD using HD Writer LE 2. 1 When the USB HDD is connected to other devices such as Blu-ray disc recorder, a message prompting to format the USB HDD may display. All the scenes and still pictures recorded on the USB HDD will be erased if formatted. Do not format as important data will get erased and it will be impossible to restore. ≥ When using an Eye-Fi card (commercially-available), set [Eye-Fi TRANSFER] to [OFF]. (l 124) When the item is set to [ON], even if you connect the USB HDD to this unit, it will not recognise the USB HDD. ∫ Points to check before copying ≥ When using a USB HDD for the first time, or using a USB HDD that has been used with other devices, first run [FORMAT MEDIA]. ≥ Before copying, go to [MEDIA STATUS] to check the amount of free space on the USB HDD. ≥ In the following cases, copying may take longer: j There are lots of scenes j The temperature of this unit is high ≥ If you copy protected scenes or still pictures, the protection setting of the copied scenes or still pictures are cancelled. ≥ The order in which the scenes were copied cannot be changed. Before you delete the data on the media after copying is complete, be sure to play back the USB HDD to check that they have been copied to correctly. (l 119) - 116 - ∫ Formatting This is for initialising the USB HDD. ≥ Please be aware that if a media is formatted then all the data recorded on the media is erased and cannot be recovered. [. . . ] ≥ When the Remote Pan Tilt Cradle is in operation, neither [ECONOMY (BATT)] nor [ECONOMY (AC)] will work. ≥ The following functions will be set to [OFF]: j HC-V550 / HC-V550M / HC-V530 Level Shot Function j Optical Image Stabilizer j [SHOOTING GUIDE] ≥ If you experience fatigue, a feeling of discomfort or other symptoms when playing back a scene recorded with the Remote Pan Tilt Cradle, stop the playback. (About [Party Scene]/[Moving Object]) ≥ Still pictures cannot be recorded during Motion picture recording. ≥ Depending on recording conditions, the colour tone of the image being recorded may change or subjects may not be recorded automatically in cases such as the following: j The subject is too large or too small - 211 - j The background and the subject are similar in colour j The recording location is dark j Bright light is detected (sky, TV, lamp, etc. ) j The subject is moving too fast, or not moving j The area being recorded is close to a window ≥ Depending on recording conditions, scenes may not be recorded as intended.
