When caller information is received, the handsets and base unit announce the caller's name or phone number received from your service provider/telephone company following every ring. This feature may not pronounce all names correctly. L Caller ID service has a limit of how many characters can be displayed. If the caller's name is too long, the handset may not be able to display or announce the entire name. L The announcement is heard at the same level as the ringer volume (page 17, 25). L If you turn on the answering system and set the number of rings "2 rings" (page 41), the unit does not announce the caller information. "Toll saver" is selected and there is a new message, the unit does not announce the caller information. L When you receive a call while on the phone, the 2nd caller's name is not announced even if you subscribe to both Caller ID and Call Waiting with Caller ID services. Phonebook name announcement When caller information is received and it matches a phone number stored in the phonebook, the stored name in the phonebook is announced. L Make sure the unit's date and time setting is correct (page 15). L When callers leave messages, the unit records the day and time of each message. Greeting message asking callers to call again later. ­ If you recorded your own greeting message, the same message is still announced to callers even though their messages are not recorded. Base unit Press {ANSWER ON} to turn on/off the answering system. To turn on: {MENU} i {#}{3}{2}{7} To turn off: {MENU} i {#}{3}{2}{8} {OFF} Memory capacity (including your greeting message) ­ The ANSWER ON indicator on the base unit flashes rapidly when the answering system is turned on. L When the message memory becomes full: ­ If you use the pre-recorded greeting message, the unit automatically switches to another pre-recorded Note for base unit and handset: L When the answering system is turned on, the ANSWER ON indicator on the base unit lights up. While a caller is leaving a message, you can listen to the call through the unit speaker. handset To adjust the speaker volume , press {^} or {V} repeatedly. You can answer the call by pressing {C}. Call screening can be set for each handset. You can answer the call by pressing {SP-PHONE}.
