[. . . ] THERE IS A DANGER OF SEVERE ELECTRICAL SHOCK IF THE CUT OFF PLUG IS INSERTED INTO ANY 13 AMP SOCKET. If a new plug is to be fitted please observe the wiring code as shown below. If in any doubt please consult a qualified electrician. IMPORTANT: The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code: Blue : Neutral Brown : Live As the colours of the wire in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: The wire which is coloured BLUE must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter N or coloured BLACK. [. . . ] To avoid injury, keep your fingers and hands away from the beater bar, and never put them between the body part. 3 IDENTIFICATION OF MAIN PARTS A-1) Handle B-2) Cord clip A-4) Upper cord hook A-3) Hose clip B-1) Mains lead Paper dust bag G) Dust bag check indicator A-4) Lower cord hook/Carrying handle C) ON/OFF Switch Dusting brush Dust bag cover Extension wand Clean air filter Cleaning head Furniture guard D) Foot pedal (Handle release) Crevice nozzle Hose HOW TO ASSEMBLE YOUR CLEANER A) HANDLE ASSEMBLY / HOSE ASSEMBLY / MAINS LEAD STORAGE Hook (both side) Clicks Upper cord hook Hose clip Hole Lower cord hook/Carrying handle 1) Insert the base of the handle into the top of the body of the machine as shown. IMPORTANT: Do not overtighten the screw. 2) Insert the hose to suction inlet. Ensure that the 2 hooks of the hose are completely fitted into the 2 holes of the suction inlet. 3) Set the hose around the hose clip. NOTE: Always place the hose in the clockwise direction. 4) Turn the upper cord hook in the upright position and wind the mains lead around the upper and lower cord hooks. 4 HOW TO OPERATE YOUR CLEANER B) MAINS LEAD RELEASE C) ON / OFF SWITCH 1) Turn the upper cord hook to release the mains lead. 2) Fix the mains lead into the cord clip to help secure it during use. To start or stop the vacuum cleaner push the switch button to " I " to turn ON and to " O " to turn OFF. IMPORTANT: To avoid any possible damage to the mains lead, never run over the cord or allow it to become caught in the beater bar. D) HANDLE LOCK / RELEASE BY FOOT PEDAL To unlock the handle of the cleaner, step on the foot pedal. To return into the upright position, simply put the handle back. 1) Upright position The handle should be in an upright position when cleaning tools are used. 2) Middle position For normal cleaning, step the foot pedal and pull back the handle to a comfortable angle and release the pedal to lower the cleaning head. 3) Low position For cleaning under furniture, step the pedal twice slowly. The handle may now be lowered almost to the floor as shown. CAUTION: To prevent damaging carpeted floors, tiled floors, Linoleum, etc. , do not leave the beater bar rotating in the same place for too long. E) AUTOMATIC HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT Your Panasonic vacuum cleaner is designed with an Automatic Height Adjustment, which adjusts the cleaning head to the proper height of any carpet pile. This system allows you to move from one carpeted area to another, without having to make time consuming manual adjustments. 5 F) HOW TO USE THE ACCESSORIES 1) To use the accessories keep the vacuum cleaner in upright position. 2) Pull out the hose from the rear side of the vacuum cleaner and remove the hose from the hose clip and support. Then connect any accessory as illustrated. NOTE: When finish using the accessories, re-insert the hose to the suction inlet and re-install the hose into the hose clip and support. And re-install the extension wand with the crevice nozzle setting on the projection. projection Hose support When re-install CAUTION: While using the accessories, hold the handle with one hand to avoid pulling the cleaner over. To prevent damage to carpeted floors, Linoleum, etc. , tilt the cleaner back so that the cleaning head is raised off the floor. To avoid accidental injury, keep children away from the beater bar while in operation. G) DUST BAG CHECK INDICATOR The dust bag check indicator (orange mark) will appear in the window, when airflow through the dust bag is insufficient. When this happens, check the dust bag, it may be full or blocked with fine dust and needs to be replaced. NOTE: If after replacing the dust bag, the yellow mark continues appearing in the window, check to see if the hose or suction inlet is clogged. Also the yellow mark can appear when using the crevice nozzle. Orange mark 6 MAINTENANCE AND SERVICING IMPORTANT NOTE:Before servicing any part, always DISCONNECT THE CLEANER FROM THE MAINS SUPPLY H) HOW TO CHANGE THE DUST BAG 1) Remove dust cover simply pulling it forwards. 2) Grip the cardboard of the dust bag and pull out. 3) Install the dust bag by pressing the cardboard as shown. 4) Press bottom of the dust bag and set it completely inside the dust bag compartment. Make sure all edges of the dust bag are completely inside the bag compartment. IMPORTANT: Dust bag should be changed regularly for the maximum efficiency of the filters and prolonged motor efficiency. Never use the cleaner without the dust bag. We recommend the use of genuine Panasonic bags Type U-20E only. I ) FILTERS CARE Central filter The central filter (foam filter) is installed in the dust bag compartment to protect the motor from dirt. When it becomes dirty, simply rinse it out in warm water and dry it thoroughly before replacing. To remove the central filter, hold the filter at the top (as illustrated) and pull it out. IMPORTANT: Ensure that the filter is completely dry before re-installing it into the cleaner. Exhaust filter (Clean air filter) NOTE: Under normal use, it is advisable to change the Clean air filter once or twice a year.
