Hold the iron over an old cloth and press the steam trigger. After a few seconds, steam instead of water comes out of the soleplate. Wet spots appear on the garment during ironing. To prevent wet spots due to condensation, steam iron the fabric first and then dry iron it for a short time to dry the fabric and the ironing board cover underneath. Replace the ironing board cover if its foam layer has worn out. You can also add an extra layer of felt under the ironing board cover to prevent condensation on the ironing board.
