After you have finished reading the instructions, put them away in a safe place for future reference. ¶ This player is not suitable for commercial use. [. . . ] Accurate scoring is not possible with discs that do not feature a recorded vocal track. The bell rings depending on how many points you score. (It doesn't ring if you get less than 59 points. Enjoy the Scoring function(SCORING/COMPETITION) even with regular CDs (non-multiplex discs). Select the desired song number with the digit buttons and DISC SIDE A/B button (LDs only). After you have been singing for a minute or so, playback indications, the karaoke bird characters, and scores are displayed on the TV screen. Scores start from 5, 000, with 100 points added or subtracted at a time. With LDs and CD-Gs, the karaoke bird characters, scores and other indications are displayed in black and white. Press the PAUSE 8 button, and scores are displayed on left and right scoreboards. The karaoke bird character and cheerleaders are happy for the winner, just to annoy the loser! If scores are even, both karaoke bird characters bend their necks, and the cheerleaders clap. Each time you press the button, the setting changes as follows. If you do not press the PAUSE 8 button, scoring continues. When a song ends, be sure to press the PAUSE 8 button. Playing just the highlights of songs lets you search for desired songs, and is handy for practicing medley karaoke. You can enjoy this function with discs that bear the HI-LITE MEDLEY mark on their jackets. (You can also enjoy it with some discs not bearing the mark. The highlights of each song are played from the first song in order. ¶ Press the Previous 4 button to return to the start of the highlight section of the song currently playing. Press again to return to the start of the highlight section of the previous song. To sing a desired song from the beginning ¶ During HI-LITE MEDLEY play, if you press the PLAY 3button, the currently playing song starts playing again from the beginning and HI-LITE MEDLEY play is canceled. ¶ If you press the PLAY 3 button after HI-LITE MEDLEY play ends, the final song from which a highlight was played starts playing. If this happens, turn mic volume down, or switch the Attenuator switch on the rear of the player ON.
