After you have finished reading the instructions, put them away in a safe place for future reference. [. . . ] Refer to the instructions for your DAT recorder for more information. You might also encounter problems if you try to synchro-record all tracks from a DAT that is set to program play. If you want to record a DAT in program play mode, use the 1-track synchro recording mode-- see page 64-65 for how to do this. In all these cases, if the signal resumes within about five seconds, the result will just be a blank section on the disc. If the interruption is longer than five seconds, the recorder displays the error message: "Can't REC" and recording is paused. Never switch off this recorder while it's recording, finalizing, or while the display shows "PMA REC" (Program Memory Area Recording). If there's a power failure, or you accidently disconnect the power from the wall outlet while recording is in process, you'll lose at least part of the recording. When power is restored, the recorder attempt to record the PMA. After recording, always remove the disc from the recorder before switching the power off. Failure to do this could result in you losing some of the recorded material on the disc. Even if you try and record something shorter than this, the track that the recorder creates will be four seconds. ¶ If you set the level at anything other than 0 dB, the "D. VOL" indicator in the display lights to remind you of the fact. From +12 dB down to -25 dB, adjustment is in steps of 1 dB. Below this, there are four preset levels: -30 dB, -36 dB, -42 dB and -48 dB. By using one of the DIRECT REC SELECT you can start recording automatically. When the recording is done "Finished" will appear in the display and the unit will beep twice. If you're trying to record a CD-R or CD-RW and get the message "Can't COPY" try changing to an analog input for the source (see page 72-73). If you've programmed a playlist of tracks from CDs loaded in trays 1 to 3, these tracks are recorded, then the CD-R/CDRW is finalized. A single track from the chosen CD is recorded. The first track from all three CDs loaded are recorded.
