[. . . ] To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or appliances in water or other liquid. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. Do not leave the toaster unattended whilst in operation. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. [. . . ] The wire, which is coloured brown, must be connected to the terminal, which is marked with the letter `L', or coloured red. EEC DECLARATION OF CONFORMITY This product conforms to the essential requirements of: 1. The Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 89/336/EEC and, where appropriate, all modifications & amendments thereto. Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EEC and, where appropriate all modifications & amendments thereto. Prima International Plc, Prima House, Premier Park, Oulton, LEEDS LS27 8ZA, United Kingdom BEFORE USING TOASTER FOR THE FIRST TIME Clean the outside of the toaster as described under "CLEANING". With the Browning control adjusted to the maximum setting, operate the toaster without bread for 3-4 minutes. During this time the toaster may emit some odours. These odours are normal for a toaster being used for the first time. The room should be ventilated during this period. Allow the toaster to cool to room temperature. The toaster is ready now for normal use. Ensure lever is in the up position before plugging toaster into wall outlet. Select the desired level of browning on the browning control. This will vary according to the moisture content and thickness of the bread; old bread toasts quicker than fresh. After selecting the desired level, place bread in slots and press lever downwards until it locks. When toasting only one slice, set the browning control to a low setting either slot can be used. Toaster slot will automatically adjust to accommodate different bread thickness. Once the browning level has been reached, the bread will pop up automatically. The bread carriage will have returned to its up position and have disconnected the element, it is now ready for the next toasting. If the toast jams in the slots, the toaster must be unplugged and the bread removed only when the toaster has cooled down. [. . . ] DO NOT use abrasive cleaners as they may damage the surface. DO NOT immerse the appliance in the water.
