[. . . ] Camera Operation Manual To ensure correct use of your camera, read this manual carefully before use. Keep the manual handy for future use. Introduction Thank you for purchasing a Ricoh RDC-i500. This manual explains the correct handling procedures and precautions for your camera. To ensure the best performance, please read the manual thoroughly before using the camera. [. . . ] The interval can be set in steps of 30 seconds in the range of 30 seconds to 3 hours. For example, if you set an interval of 1 hour, the shutter will be released every hour, taking pictures continuously until the storage memory in the recording destination runs out of available memory. Important Note · Check the recordable picture count in the storage memory before starting interval (time-lapse) recording. · Setting of the interval (time-lapse) recording will be canceled by the auto power off setting after 24 hours you start recording. A Set the mode dial to [ ] and press the MENU button. 3 Shooting B Select [INTERVAL] and then press the button. C Set the time interval and press the ENTER button. The interval timer is now set. See · P. 29 "How to Use the Spin Box ( )" D Press the CANCEL button to exit the menu display. Note · To cancel interval (time-lapse) recording, switch the camera off while the "INTERVAL" message is lit. 73 E Press the shutter release button. The first photograph will be taken and then additional photographs will be taken at the preset time interval. The "INTERVAL" message will blink during interval (time-lapse) recording. Picture taking will end when the storage memory runs out of memory. Note · Press the CANCEL button during recording to stop the interval (time- lapse) recording. · Normal picture taking is possible during interval (time-lapse) recording by pressing the shutter release button. The preset time interval will not change. · The time interval may become longer than the preset interval, depending on the image quality mode and flash mode settings. · If using the battery, the battery may become exhausted during interval (time-lapse) recording. It is recommended to use the optional AC adapter. Shooting in Auto Bracket Mode (Auto Bracket) This function takes three frames in succession: one each at ­0. 5 EV, 0 and +0. 5 EV, based on the exposure compensation value set in "Setting the Exposure Compensation" (P. 58). This function is useful for checking the exposure compensation. Mount the camera on a tripod or level surface to prevent camera shake. A Set the mode dial to [ the MENU button. ] and press B Select [AUTO BRACKET] and then press the button. C Select [ON] and then press the ENTER button. Note · To cancel the auto bracket mode, select [OFF]. 74 D Press the CANCEL button to exit the menu display. AB will be displayed on the LCD monitor. E Press the shutter release button to record the image. When the shutter release button is pressed, three frames will be taken in succession at ­0. 5 EV, 0 and +0. 5 EV, based on the preset exposure compensation value. 3 Shooting Note · Auto Bracket cannot be used when the image quality mode is set on non-compressed mode (NC) or when [VOICE MEMO] is set on [ON]. · The flash does not fire in auto bracket mode. Changing the ISO Sensitivity (ISO Setting) You can change the ISO sensitivity. A Set the mode dial to [ ] or [ press the MENU button. ] and B Select [ISO SETTING] and then press button. the 75 C Choose the ISO sensitivity [AUTO, ISO 200, ISO 400 or ISO 800] and then press the ENTER button. D Press the CANCEL button to exit the menu display. The selected ISO sensitivity will be displayed on the LCD monitor. E Press the shutter release button to record the image. Note · Enable the keep settings mode to save the ISO sensitivity setting. P. 108 "Keep Settings" Changing the Exposure Metering System (Photometry) You can change the exposure metering system to record images. Mode MULT (multi-pattern) Description Multi-metering is performed by splitting the LCD monitor in several parts. This mode is also suitable for shooting the backlighted subject. The middle of the LCD monitor is the focal point, and the CTR WGHT (center weighted) light is measured uniformly over the whole screen. SPOT Exposure metering is performed of a part of the frame in the (spot) middle of the LCD monitor. This mode is used when the subject is exposed to strong light, such as backlight. A Set the mode dial to [ the MENU button. ] and press B Select [PHOTOMETRY] and press the button. 76 C Choose the exposure metering system (CTR WGHT, SPOT or MULTI) and then press the ENTER button. D Press the CANCEL button to exit the menu display. E Press the shutter release button to record the image. 3 Shooting in Time Exposure Mode (Time Exposure) Set the time exposure mode to record the bright subjects such as the fireworks and running cars in a dark place. Important Note Shooting · Mount the camera on the tripod when recording in time exposure mode. A Set the mode dial to [ the MENU button. ] and press B Select [TIME EXPOSURE] and then press the button. 77 C Select [1 SEC. , 2 SEC. , 4 SEC. , 8 SEC. ] and press the ENTER button. Note · To cancel the time exposue mode, select [OFF]. D Press the CANCEL button to exit the menu display. LX will be displayed on the LCD monitor. Time exposure mode display E Press the shutter release button to record the image. Note · The time exposure mode can not be set when auto bracket mode is set. · Enable the keep settings mode to save the time exposure mode setting.
