Performing simple searches
Use a simple search to search all collections for any type of file that contains the search word in its file name, comments, or keywords.
To perform a simple search:
Enter the word you want to search for into the Search text box on the Options Bar and press
Enter.
Using advanced search criteria
Follow this procedure to perform advanced searches on keyword, file type, creation or modification date, and other specific criteria.
To perform an advanced search:

On the Options Bar, click More. The Advanced Search dialog box appears.

Enter search criteria as follows: a b c To search on file or album name, enter all or part of the name. To limit the search to specific file types, select them. To limit the search to a specific album, select the album, and specify whether to search albums inside the selected album.

On the General page, set the following search criteria:
Comments: To search for comment text, enter the text. When was it: To search on date, choose whether to search on modification date or creation
date, and specify the date or date range.
What size is it: To search on file size, specify a file size or size range.

On the Keywords page, select the keywords for which you want to search. On the Special Properties page, set criteria specific to the type of file for which you are searching. Media Manager searches for files that match the search criteria. The results appear in the Search Results area. You can save the search results as a Smart View or album.
Tip: To clear the search word and perform another search, click Clear Search Criteria, and
then go to step 1.
Creating Smart Views from search results
Follow this procedure to create a Smart View based on a search. The Smart View is dynamic; if new media files meet the search criteria, they are automatically added to this Smart View.
To create a Smart View from search results:

Perform an advanced search for the files you want to add to the new Smart View (see Using advanced search criteria on page 152). The Save your last search query as a new Custom View dialog box opens.

Enter a name for the Smart View and then click Save.

Creating albums from search results
Follow this procedure to create an album containing media files found in a search. The album is not dynamic; new media files that satisfy the search criteria are not automatically added to the album.
To create an album from search results:

Perform an advanced search for the files you want to add to the new album (see Using advanced search criteria on page 152). The Save As New Album dialog box opens.

Enter a name for the album. Select a location for the album and then click Save.

About sharing media files
You can share your media files with friends and family by e-mail, with LiveShare, or using an online photo service. You can use My MediaSpace (UPnP) to share files with devices on your home network, and you can set a favorite photo as your desktop wallpaper. Follow these procedures to share your photos or other media files:

E-mailing media files
You can share your photos and other media files with friends and family by e-mail. Using Media Manager, you can e-mail photos individually, either as an attachment or in the body of an HTML-formatted e-mail message (if your e-mail program supports the HTMLformatted message feature used by Media Manager), or you can send your photos packaged in a slideshow.
To e-mail your files:

Select the files you want to e-mail.
Tip: To select multiple files, hold down Ctrl while you click the files.

Optional: To add additional photos, follow these steps:

Click Add Files. The Add Files dialog box appears.

Navigate to the Smart View, album, or folder in which the photos are stored. Select the photos to e-mail.
Tip: To select more than one photo at a time, press and hold Ctrl while you select the photo
files. d 4 Click Add Files.
Select the e-mail program you want to use to send the files by choosing one of the following options:
Default e-mail client (Microsoft Outlook): E-mail the files using your default e-mail
program. If you select this option, choose whether to send the e-mail in HTML format. If you choose this option, the photos appear in the body of the message, rather than as attached files.
Other (e. g. [. . . ] Clean the center area (hub) of the disc. Use a lint-free cloth to wipe the hub area and remove any dirt or smudges that may be covering the control features. If these steps do not fix the problem, try another LightScribe disc.
