Manual abstract: user guide RUSSELL HOBBS 13974

Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] 8 When using only one of a pair of toasting slots, don't let anything get into the other slot, as both slots will become "live" when you lower the bread carriage handle. 9 Don't let the toasting slots become covered while toasting, or while the toaster is hot. 10 If bread gets jammed, unplug the toaster, let it cool, and carefully remove the bread. Don't use anything sharp, you'll damage the elements. [. . . ] 6 Don't put it on or near anything that might be damaged even by moderate heat. 7 Route the cable so it doesn't overhang, and can't be tripped over or caught. Don't use the toaster near or below curtains or other combustible materials, and watch it while it's hot. Switch the socket on, if it's switchable. 10 You can treat the left and right pairs of toasting slots as two independent 2-slice toasters, with two independent sets of controls. 11 Turn the browning control to the required setting (1 = light, 6 = dark). 12 Put bread into the toasting slots (maximum thickness 27mm). 13 Press the bread carriage handle down fully it won't lock down unless the toaster is connected to the electricity supply. 14 The 5 light will glow, to show that the elements are heating. 15 When it's done, the toast will pop up, the light will go out, and the elements will turn off. , Take care if you're using both pairs of slots, they'll probably pop up at different times. 16 To stop toasting, press the 5 button the toast will pop up, the light will go out, and the elements will turn off. eject 5 extra lift H 17 After toasting small items (bagels, crumpets, etc. ) the bread carriage handle may be raised further, to allow them to be removed more easily. bagel b 18 Only the brown outside surfaces of bagels should be toasted, the soft inner surfaces shouldn't be browned. 19 Split your bagel, and put the two halves into the slots with the brown outsides facing the centre elements. 20 Leave the browning control at your favoured setting, lower the bread carriage handle, then press the b button. This heats only the centre elements 21 The b and 5 lights will glow, the brown outsides of the bagel will be toasted, and the cut sides will be warmed. 22 This feature takes the guesswork out of toasting frozen bread. 23 Leave the browning control at your favoured setting, insert the frozen bread, lower the bread carriage handle, then press the f button. 24 The f and 5 lights will glow, and the toasting time will be altered automatically to give the same degree of browning you get with unfrozen bread. caution don't try to defrost bread you'll probably wreck the toaster a) toasting frozen bread changes ice to steam, which escapes via the toasting slots b) defrosting bread on a low setting changes ice to water, which drips into the toaster, over the electronics and maybe the elements, causing mayhem 4 frozen bread f 25 You must only reheat plain, unbuttered toast. 26 Turn the browning control down to m, the lowest setting, before reheating toast. reheating toast m hints and tips 27 If you're toasting more than one slice of bread, both slices should be of similar size, thickness and freshness, or they'll brown differently. 28 Old (yesterday's) bread contains less moisture, so makes crisper toast. 29 Old or thin bread cooks faster than fresh or thick bread. [. . . ] The product isn't user-serviceable. If it's not working, read the instructions, check the plug fuse and main fuse/circuit breaker. If it's still not working, consult your retailer. If that doesn't solve the problem ring Customer Service they may be able to offer technical advice. [. . . ]
