It is essential that you read the instructions in this manual before assembling, maintaining and operating this machine. English (Original Instructions) GENERAL SAFETY RULES Your cultivator has been engineered and manufactured to Ryobi's high standard for dependability, ease of operation, and operator safety. When properly cared for, it will give you years of rugged, trouble-free performance. Never allow adults to operate this machine without proper instruction. Keep bystanders, helpers, pets and children at least 15 meters from the machine and extension cord while it is operation. [. . . ] Operation of a product that may have been improperly preassembled could result in serious personal injury. Wheels (2) Wheel Washers (2) Wheel Hitch Pins (2) Front Handle Handlebar Bolts (2) Knobs (2) Operator's Manual INSTALLING THE FRONT HANDLE See Figure 4 Position the front handle as shown. Depress the buttons on the handle and insert into the frame. Press down on the handle until the button on the handle clicks into place. PACKING LIST Cultivator Drag stake Adjustment Knob Hitch Pins (2) Felt Washers (2) Inner Tines (2) Outer Tines (2) ASSEMBLING THE WHEEL / DRAG STAKE ASSEMBLY See Figure 5 Locate the axles, hitch pins, washers and wheels. Place a washer on the outside of the wheel and slide to rest against the wheel. Push the hitch pin into the hole on the end of the axle to secure the wheel / drag stake assembly. NOTE: The hitch pin should be pushed into the axle until the center of the pin rests on top of the axle. Repeat with the second wheel. UNPACKING This product requires assembly. Carefully remove the tool and any accessories from the box. Make sure that all items listed in the packing list are included. WARNING: This new product has been shipped in a partially assembled condition as described below. Carefully check the packing list below to ensure all items are included in the package; the packing list describes all loose items that are not assembled to the product as shipped. Do not operate the product if any packing list items are already assembled to your product when you unpack it. Call the customer service number below for assistance. Operation of a product that may have been improperly preassembled could result in serious personal injury. INSTALLING THE WHEEL / DRAG STAKE ASSEMBLY See Figure 6 Use the wheel / drag stake assembly to transport the unit to and from the work area or when cultivating. To install: Remove the adjustment knob located at the back of the tine shield. Insert the wheel / drag stake assembly into the bracket at the back of the tine shield. To place the wheels in a high position, insert the knob in the first hole. For a lower wheel position, insert the knob in the second or third hole. Insert adjustment knob through holes in bracket, passing through desired hole in wheel / drag stake assembly, to secure wheel / drag stake assembly at desired height. Thread the adjustment knob into the nut and tighten, to secure wheel / drag stake assembly. Inspect the tool carefully to make sure no breakage or damage occurred during shipping. Do not discard the packing material until you have carefully inspected and satisfactorily operated the tool. If any parts are damaged or missing, please call RYOBI customer service for assistance. WARNING: If any parts are damaged or missing do not operate this tool until the parts are replaced. [. . . ] All other parts should be replaced at an Authorized Service Center. TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM Motor fails to start when switch trigger is depressed. CAUSE Power cord is not plugged in or connection is loose. Stone or root could become lodged in the tines. REMEDY Plug in the power cord. Check circuit breaker To clear the tines, release the trigger lever. Unplug the tiller, and dislodge or remove any obstacles from the tines or tine shaft. [. . . ]
