If you follow the instructions, your oven will provide you with many years of good service. SANYO Canada Inc. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS 1 11/99 Printed in Singapore Code No. 432-6-414S-82000 S9000sci-Front. fm Page 2 Wednesday, September 22, 1999 2:38 PM PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID POSSIBLE EXPOSURE TO EXCESSIVE MICROWAVE ENERGY (a) Do not attempt to operate this oven with the door open since opendoor operation can result in harmful exposure to microwave energy. [. . . ] The turntable, however, may be turned off to accommodate large dishes. Press TURNTABLE ON/OFF once to set turntable off and twice to set turntable back on. It is better to keep the turntable on for optimum results. Press once twice Turntable setting OFF ON Note: · Even if you change turntable setting to off mode, your turntable will turn back ON when cooking is over. · This feature can only be set with Timed cooking. You cannot turn off the turntable when using Auto functions. · The turntable will not return to its original starting position when cooking is finished when using this feature. · When your turntable is selected to off mode, rotate or rearrange the dish halfway through cooking for best results. FAN SPEED CONTROL The built-in exhaust fan can be set to 3 different speeds: HIGH or LOW speed or OFF Press the FAN key once, twice or 3 times to select your desired speed. . Press once twice 3 times To select: HIGH LOW OFF Note: · The fan automatically starts at LOW speed whenever the oven is in operation. Automatic Fan: When the oven senses too much heat rising from the cooktop below it, the fan automatically turns on at LOW speed to protect the microwave oven. The fan automatically turns off when the internal parts are cool and back to a safe level. When the fan is in automatic operation, FAN indicator flashes in the display. LIGHT There are two light settings: regular and night light. Press once twice 3 times Cooktop Light Regular light Night light OFF Note: · The light turns off automatically after 3 hours. · When the oven and fan operate at the same time, the light automatically changes to Night light. 24 S9000sci-oper. fm Page 25 Wednesday, September 22, 1999 2:39 PM BEEP/MELODY SELECTION Beeps that sound at the end of cooking can be changed to a musical sound. Press MELODY/BEEP 1 to 4 times to select your choice: Press MELODY/BEEP once twice 3 times 4 times To select: Melody 1 Melody 2 Melody 3 Beep Each time you press MELODY/BEEP you will hear the selected sound. , Note: · The initial factory setting is Beep. · After a power interruption, the setting returns to Beep. Reset if you prefer to set to a melody. DELAY OFF OPERATION This feature allows you to set the exhaust fan to automatically turn off after a certain period of time (up to 30 minutes). Press DELAY OFF once twice 3 times To select: 10 minutes delay 20 minutes delay 30 minutes delay Note: · To check remaining time, press DELAY OFF. The remaining time appears in the display for 3 seconds. To add delay off time, press DELAY OFF while the display shows remaining delay off time then press DELAY OFF 1 - 3 times. · If the fan is not operating and you press DELAY OFF, the fan will start at HIGH speed. · When automatic fan is operating, the fan may not turn off automatically until the internal parts are cooled and back to a safe level. · To clear delay off mode or change fan speed during delay off period, simply press FAN 1 - 3 times to select your desired setting. 25 S9000sci-cooking guide. fm Page 26 Wednesday, September 22, 1999 2:39 PM COOKING GUIDE COOKING PRINCIPLES AND TECHNIQUES The Advantages of microwave cooking are speed and efficiency.
