PRECAUTIONS ON USING THE ROTATING COMPASS RING
q The rotating compass ring can be used in the Northern Hemisphere only.  [. . . ] For such activities as mountaineering and orienteering which require very accurate directions,  be sure to use a conventional magnetic compass with this watch.

* In the a. m. period,  set the rotating compass ring to the middle point of the arc to the left of the 12 o'clock marker. period,  set the ring to the middle point of the arc to the right of the 12 o'clock marker. ** The rotating compass ring rotates clockwise by turning the crown at the 4 o'clock position counterclockwise and rotates counterclockwise by turning the crown clockwise.
