Before installing this product, be sure to read the installation requirements and cautions sections. Be sure to keep all operation manuals handy for reference including this manual, the "Operation manual for printer operation and general information" and operation manuals for any optional equipment which has been installed. All information included herein is subject to change without notice. [. . . ] For regular applications, there is usually no need to change the setting. Default setting: 5 The relation between the setting values and the change of line thickness are as follows. Value 0 1 1 50% 2 75% 3 90% 4 95% 5 100% 6 105% 7 110% 8 125% 9 150% Thickness change 1 dot * 1 * All lines are 1-dot lines. I Extra print mode When you have a large number of single print jobs, this setting can be used to shorten the waiting time between print jobs and increase efficiency. Normally there is no need to turn this setting on. When this setting is turned on, multiple single print jobs are displayed in the Job status screen as one print job. Note that the "Notify Job End" function does not operate (even if turned on) when Extra print mode is turned on. When turned on, Extra print mode combines single print jobs into one print job. However, if any of the print jobs are as described in A or B below, Extra print mode will turn off or stop functioning. One of the following print conditions change between print jobs: Two-sided printing to one-sided printing / one-sided printing to two-sided printing / binding method of twosided printing / orientation of two-sided printing / paper type / output tray / toner save / smoothing / binding position / binding width / halftone *1 *1 An optional PS3 expansion kit is needed. One of the following print modes is selected for a print job: Account control / Two or more copies / Job retention *2 / Saddle stitch / Staple / Punch / Different first page / Transparency inserts *2 An optional hard disk drive must be installed. 3 PCL settings PCL SETTINGS is used to assign a part of character codes to characters of a country in the PCL symbol set. (Used when different symbols are used depending on the country. ) Default setting: "1" (Roman-8) For setting items of the symbol set, see page 7-6. The list of the numbers to be set and their corresponding symbol sets can be printed using "PCL symbol set list printing" (see page 3-8). When using the operation panel on the main unit, select the desired symbol set item and register it. When using the operation panel with touch panel, select the number that corresponds to the desired symbol set and register it. PostScript settings This setting specifies whether an error page describing the cause of an error is printed or not when a PostScript error has occurred. Selections are available to choose printing or not printing of error pages. Default setting: Not print 3-5 CUSTOM SETTINGS Custom settings are used for various settings based on the customer operating conditions.
