LINE socket to the wall socket should be no longer than two meters. · Make sure there are no modem devices sharing the same telephone line. · Check with the other party to make sure their fax machine is functioning properly. · Have your telephone line checked for line noise. · Try connecting the fax machine to a different telephone line. · If the problem still occurs, your fax machine may need service. 77 9. Troubleshooting Problems and Solutions Dialling and transmission problems Problem No dial tone when you pick up the handset or press the key. Solution · Make sure the handset cord is connected to the correct socket. · Make sure the power cord is properly plugged into a power outlet. · Make sure that the telephone line is properly connected to both the TEL. · Make sure that the fax machine is set to the correct dialling mode for your telephone line.
