In the following cases, the auto-play function will not work. q When the recordable MiniDisc write protection tab is closed (page 10) q When the auto-play function has been cancelled (page 35) To the socket 3 Press the VOLUME + button to increase the volume and the VOLUME ­ button to decrease the volume. Volume (0 - 30) 4 Adjust the bass level. Each time the BASS button is pressed, the tone will be switched as follows: 1 Insert the earphones plug into the socket. Push the plug all the way in. 2 Insert a MiniDisc. (See page 11. ) BASS 1 BASS 2 BASS 3 BASS OFF q The power will be turned on automatically, and playback will start from the first track. (Auto-play function) Track number Track name (Nothing will be displayed for MiniDiscs that do not contain track names. ) Bass sounds are emphasised slightly. Bass emphasis is cancelled. q After playback of the last track has finished, the unit will stop automatically. q When recording, it is impossible to adjust the bass level (Bass emphasis is cancelled). q The most recent volume or bass settings are saved when the power is turned off. To remove the MiniDisc: Turn off the power and move the OPEN lever in the direction indicated by the arrow. Resume auto play function: To stop playback: Press the s/:OFF button. q When you press the s/:OFF button to stop playback, or when you turn the power off and then you resume playback, it will resume at the point on the MiniDisc where the playback was halted. q If the MiniDisc is removed and inserted, and playback is resumed, playback will start from the first track. To turn off the power: Press the s/:OFF button whilst in the stop mode. q If the unit is not operated for at least 2 minutes whilst in the stop mode, the power will shut off automatically. Precautions when making connections: q Do not remove the rubber pads from the earphones. q Be sure to hold the plug when removing it. If you pull on the lead, it may break, or the unit may malfunction. Interrupted sound: q This product is designed to eliminate interruptions in the sound which can be caused by vibrations. However, if the unit is continuously exposed to vibrations or mechanical shock, the sound may be interrupted momentarily. When the sound is distorted: q If the volume is too high whilst the bass is being emphasised, the sound may be distorted, depending on the music on the track. If this happens, decrease the bass level or lower the volume level. q If the volume is increased to "VOL 24" or higher, the bass level will be adjusted automatically. (This is done to reduce the distortion in the sound. ) Caution: q When the unit is not to be used immediately after a MiniDisc has been inserted, or when you plan to carry the unit, turn off the power or cancel the auto-play function. Otherwise, the auto-play function will be activated and the battery will run down. [. . . ] It may cause malfunctions.
