[. . . ] Do not charge a battery (nickel-cadmium, alkaline, etc. ) other than that specified. q Do not remove the outer cover of the rechargeable battery. It may cause heat generation, fire, or explosion. q Do not dip the battery in water, do not dispose of it in a fire, and do not take it apart. q If the rechargeable battery terminal is dirty, charging may not start. In such a case, wipe off the dirt with a dry cloth. q Do not disassemble the battery. Useful Features 1 2 Disconnect the AC adaptor. Insert the rechargeable battery or alkaline battery from the (+) marked side. q Use a commercially available LR6, "AA" size alkaline battery. Notes: q Setting the volume level to "0" whilst recording with the rechargeable or an alkaline battery reduces the battery drain. q When you do not use the unit for hours, remove the battery. (The battery drains gradually even when the power is turned off. ) q This unit can be used with the AC adaptor when the rechargeable or an alkaline battery is in the unit. q After the rechargeable battery is charged or used, it will get slightly warm. Caution: q Do not use a nickel-cadmium battery. 29 28 Hold Function Useful Features The present operation condition can be kept even if other buttons are accidentally pressed in a place such as a crowded train. Move the HOLD switch to the safety position (direction indicated by the arrow). (An orange mark appears. ) q To cancel the hold mode, move the HOLD switch away from the safety position (the opposite direction of the arrow). q If the hold function is active whilst the power is turned off, the power cannot be turned on by mistake and the battery will not be drained. Notes: q Adjust the volume of both this unit and a car stereo. q Do not operate this unit whilst you drive a car. It may distract your attention and cause a traffic accident. q Do not use any car adaptor except for the separately available AD-CA20X. q Remove the battery when you power the unit from the car battery. 30 31 Titling a MiniDisc Advanced Features Creating disc and track names One disc name and up to 255 track names can be created per disc (A maximum of 100 characters for the disc and each track name and a total of 1, 700 characters can be entered). 3 Press the DISP button repeatedly to select the type of characters. (Capital letters) (Lower-case letters) (Numbers and symbols) 1 Disc name Whilst in the stop mode, press the EDIT button to select "DISC NAME". Track name Whilst in the pause mode, press the EDIT button to select "TRACK NAME". q The first 3 characters in the group of the selected characters will be displayed for about 1 second. 4 Press the 5 or 4 button repeatedly to select the letter. 5 2 Press the ENTER/SYNC button. Press the ENTER/SYNC button to enter it.
