Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] The cabinet comes in three sizes PI32 (6"), PI44 (10") and the PI54 (15") where the PI32 can receive data from 3 sensors and the PI44/54 can receive data from 6 sensors at the same time. The quality of Simrad echosounders is recognized all over the world and now it is integrated in the PI system. Important features like bottom expansion, shift function, pulse length and White Line are standard. Dual frequency Exact trawl information Bottom expansion The PI44/54 has a built in 1kW dual frequency echosounder. You can choose between 38, 50 or 200 kHz where two frequencies can be shown at the same time. Bottom trawl with 4m trawl height, decreasing with 1m/min. [. . . ] Adjust the length of the sensing chain to see when the ground gear lifts a few cm off the bottom. Bottom contact sensor on a purse seine gives an alarm when the sensing weight touches the bottom. This enables you to fish close to a rough bottom. Bottom contact sensor on a pelagic trawl. Adjust the length of the sensing chain to avoid towing on the bottom and tearing the net. Bottom contact is indicated on screen and with an audio alarm. The net has been off the bottom for 7 minutes. Bottom trawl Purse seine Pelagic trawl Accurate purse seining The Simrad PI Catch Monitoring system receives information from up to six sensors at the same time. The system uses a hull mounted- or over the side hydrophone. The net's depth, water temperature and the important bottom contact information are displayed in large digits or easy to understand graphics. The Simrad PI system is designed with different codes to avoid interference between vessels operating close together. The small size, quick update rate, long battery life and its long-range capability, allows the PI system to be installed on any size net, from a small sardine net to a large tuna net. The PI system interfaces to the latest professional Simrad echosounders and sonars. Data sharing Depth and temperature Surface temperature meter Integrated information from the PI system can be sent to other Simrad equipment. Here is information from 3 depth sensors displayed in relation to the fish school on a Simrad SP90 sonar. Purse seining with two depth sensors and one temperature sensor. The water temperature is indicated in the blue area. The ground line is passing through a thermo cline. Display with an alarm function, set for increasing or decreasing temperature. Temperature versus time can be shown graphically on the lower part of the display. All vital information displayed on a powerful echosounder Main echosounder screen, showing trawl lines starting where the trawl is. This information is either taken from the depth sensor or the height sensor. The built in trawl calculator calculates the distance to the trawl based on the ships speed and wire length. The trawl height on the screen is 4. 1m off the bottom. The bottom expansion function is a vital tool to distinguish fish from the bottom. [. . . ] Pulse length: Long, Medium, Short, Automatic Alarms: Fish, max and min depth Zoom mode: Bottom and VRM expansion Split screen: Depth and A-scope.
