never reach underneath the material for any reason while cutting Ensure that no material or surface under the cutting area can be damaged by the cutting blades Do not leave the tool unattended This tool is not a toy; keep it out of reach of children This tool should not be used by people under the age of 16 years Do not clamp the tool in a vice In case of electrical or mechanical malfunction, immediately switch off the tool or unplug charger from power source SKIL can assure flawless functioning of the tool only when original accessories are used Do not expose tool/charger/battery to rain Hold tool by insulated gripping surface when performing an operation where the cutting blades may contact hidden wiring; contact with a "live" wire will make exposed metal parts of the tool "live" and shock the operator Remove battery from tool before making any adjustments or changing accessories Do not carry or suspend the charger by the cord Never pull the charger cord to disconnect the charger from the power source Keep the charger cord away from heat, oil and sharp edges Store tool/charger/battery in locations where temperature will not exceed 40 C or drop below 0 C CHARGING/BATTERIES Charge battery only with the charger that is supplied with the tool Never charge battery outdoors 4 Do not charge battery in damp or wet environments Do not use charger when cord or plug is damaged; cord or plug should be replaced immediately at one of the officially registered SKIL Service Stations Do not use battery when damaged; it should be replaced immediately Do not disassemble charger or battery Batteries will explode when disposed of in fire, so do not burn battery for any reason Explanation of symbols on charger/battery 3 Read the instruction manual before use 4 Only use the charger indoors 5 Double insulation (no earth wire required) 6 Fail-safe isolating transformer (the power source is electrically separated from the transformer output) 7 Automatic shut-off when charger gets too hot (thermic fuse blows and charger becomes useless) 8 Incorrect polarity of the charger connection could cause a hazard (only charge the battery with the charger supplied) 9 Do not dispose of the charger together with household waste material 0 Do not dispose of the battery together with household waste material !NiMH technology provides more energy in a less environment-polluting way 7 USE On/off @ - switch on the tool by pushing switch A forward - lock the switch for continuous use by pushing switch A further forward until it snap-locks - switch off the tool/unlock the switch by pressing switch A at the back Charging battery # - battery of new tools is not fully charged - plug charger J into wall socket - insert charger plug K into battery as illustrated - charging light H turns on indicating that the battery is being charged - after 3 hours the charging operation will be completed, and the battery may be used IMPORTANT: - do not charge at temperatures below 0C and over 40C; this will seriously damage the battery as well as the charger - while charging, the charger and the battery may become warm to touch; this is normal and does not indicate a problem - do not remove battery from tool while it is running !a battery that is new or has not been used for a longer period does not develop its full capacity until after approximately 5 charging/discharging cycles - do not repeatedly recharge the battery after only a few minutes of operation; this may result in a reduction of operating time and battery efficiency - the battery must be kept separate from the natural environment and should not be disposed of as normal domestic waste (symbol 0 will remind you of this when the need for disposing occurs) !prior to disposal protect battery terminals with heavy tape to prevent short-circuit - the charger automatically shuts off if the ambient temperature becomes too high (unplug the charger, wait until the ambient temperature has decreased, and plug charger into wall socket again) - if you anticipate long periods of non-use for the tool, it is best to unplug the charger from its power source Changing batteries $ - press button G and slide off battery - mount battery by sliding it onto tool until it snaplocks Changing scissor heads % !remove battery from tool - lift button B and hold it while sliding off scissor head - mount scissor head by sliding it onto tool as illustrated until it snap-locks Operating the tool - before using the tool, unplug the charger and disconnect the tool from the charger (the tool will not operate while it is connnected to the charger) - remove blade protection cap L 2 - switch on the tool - let the cutting blades run freely for a few seconds before starting the cut - do not apply too much pressure on the tool; N'utilisez pas de fiches d'adaptateur avec des appareils avec mise la terre. Les fiches non modifies et les prises de courant appropries rduisent le risque de choc lectrique. b) Evitez le contact physique avec des surfaces mises la terre telles que tuyaux, radiateurs, fours et rfrigrateurs. Il y a un risque lev de choc lectrique au cas o votre corps serait reli la terre. c) N'exposez pas l'outil lectroportatif la pluie ou l'humidit.
