In case of disconnection and reconnection of the car's battery, first insert the ignition switch into the ignition lock and then switch on the car radio. Should you wish to receive a separate code, please contact the service department of your ·koda dealership. Radio Operation . For that reason, avoid exposing your cassettes to direct sunlight. · Store audio cassettes in their cases. On the one hand, this protects them against dust and, on the other hand, it prevents "binding" of the tape caused by the vibrations of the moving car, thus preventing disturbances during playback. We also recommend the use of original cassette storage systems with spool arresting devices, which are available for most car models. Cassette mode and traffic announcements If the radio was in TP mode prior to insertion of the cassette, the cassette playback is temporarily interrupted and the unit switched to the radio mode for the duration of traffic announcements. After the traffic announcement, the unit automatically resumes playback of the cassette. Cleaning the magnetic head Should the playback start to sound dull after a prolonged period of use, this is probably due to tape abrasion accumulated on the magnetic head. The accumulation of dirt on the magnetic head can be removed by using a wet cleaning cassette. Use only cleaning cassettes by reputable manufacturers and observe the instructions for use supplied by the cassette manufacturer. We recommend cleaning of the magnetic head after every 100 hours of operation. Depending on the kind of cassettes used, cleaning of the magnetic head may be necessary in shorter intervals. Tips on cassette use · For the best possible playback results, we recommend the use of chrome dioxide or metal cassettes with a maximum running time of 90 minutes (C90) or less (C60). · Do not affix any stickers on the cassette case. Owing to heat during cassette operation these stickers may come loose and impair the operation of the cassette drive. 10 bed_anl_SkodaMelody_gb. qxd 21. 01. 2004 10:47 Uhr Seite 11 Setup Menu 5 The following functions can be set in the setup menu: · GALA · ON VOL · TA VOL speed-controlled volume adjustment maximum switchon volume minimum volume for traffic announcements volume for mobile phone volume for exter nal audio source 1 AUDIO GB 6 · Access the setup menu by pressing the button TP , keeping it depressed for a few seconds.
