[. . . ] Connect the AC power adaptor to DC IN 3V and to a wall outlet. Use the AC-E30HG AC power adaptor (not supplied). The model number is located at the bottom and the serial number is located inside the battery compartment. Record the serial number in the space provided below. [. . . ] Only when the tape does not run properly, replace the batteries. â· After the batteries have been used for a while, the BATT/REC lamps may flicker during playback if the volume is turned up. This is, however, not an indication for the batteries to be replaced. â· The unit will play back normally for a while even after the i lamp flashes. You should, nonetheless, replace the batteries as soon as possible. Otherwise, the built-in speaker may emit a loud noise and recordings may not be made correctly. While the tape runs, the BATT/ REC lamp lights and flickers depending on the strength of the sound. At the end of the reverse side, recording stops and the unit turns off automatically. to Stop recording Pause recording Press or slide p STOP PAUSE c in the direction of the arrow. To release pause recording, release PAUSE c*. Note The number will increase when playing back the forward side, and decrease when playing back the reverse side. To record on both sides Slide DIR c so that the FWD indicator turns green. Set VOR to suit the recording condition before recording. The raised dot beside VOL shows the direction to turn down the volume. Playback will start from the forward side and switches automatically to the reverse side at the end of the side (Auto Reverse). Turn SPEED CONTROL to: SLOW (slow) to play back at a slower speed. Center position to play back at normal speed. FAST (fast) to play back at a faster speed. The supplied microphone will pick up noise if it is hand held while recording. Should any solid object or liquid fall into the unit, remove the batteries or disconnect the AC power adaptor, and have the unit checked by qualified personnel before operating it any further. [. . . ] Should any problem persist after you have made these checks, consult your nearest Sony dealer. The AC power adaptor is not firmly connected. â· When trying to run on dry batteries, the AC power adaptor has been left plugged in to the DC IN 3 V jack, but not to the power source. ** Fast forward and rewind stops at the end of either side and the unit turns off automatically .
