Insert the battery pack into the battery compartment located at the rear of the computer: 1. Switch the battery lock 1 to the unlocked 1 position. Press the power switch. 3 Using the TrackPoint The TrackPoint® is a unique device for moving the cursor on the screen. You can perform all mouse operations with the TrackPoint. The left and right click buttons function like the left and right click buttons of a mouse. Pointer To move the cursor, use the red-tipped pointer at the center of the keyboard. Press gently with your left or right index finger in the direction you want to move the cursor. If you install a DIMM that is not supported by your computer, the computer beeps, and the system does not start. You can purchase the appropriate memory option from your SONY reseller or SONY marketing representative. Attention: Before you start installing a module, touch a metal table or a grounded metal object. This action reduces any static electricity from your body. The static electricity could damage the DIMM. To install the DIMM, do the following: 1. Turn off the computer; then disconnect the ac adapter and all cables from the computer. Close the computer display, and turn it over. Loosen the screw on the memory slot cover; then remove the cover. 7 . If the DIMM is already in the memory slot, remove it to replace the new one by pressing out on the latches on both edges of the socket at the same time. Find the notch on the side of the DIMM. Attention: To avoid damaging the DIMM, do not touch its contact edge. 6. With the notched end of the DIMM toward the right side of the socket, insert the DIMM into the socket at an angle of about 20 degrees 1 ; then press it firmly 2 . 7. Pivot the DIMM until it snaps into place. Make sure that the card is firmly fixed in the slot and does not move easily. 8 8. Replace the memory slot cover over the memory slot, aligning the back side of the cover first; then tighten the screw. [. . . ]
