[. . . ] The Theater surround function provides a three dimensional experience like a movie theater. It simulates an effect similar to Dolby Pro Logic when playing source material that is recorded or broadcast in stereo but not in Dolby Surround. 3 STEREO Surround Dolby 3 Stereo surround sound uses analog or digital audio signals to playback through three speakers. 1) Front left channel 2) Front right channel 3) Center channel This allows you to enjoy a home theater surround sound experience without connecting rear channel speakers. 3 Stereo can be used with both Dolby Digital or Dolby Pro Logic audio sources. 13 SURROUND EFFECTS Delay Time Setting In the surround modes, the sound is delayed from the front to the rear speakers. The optimum delay time will depend on acoustic properties of the room and the distance of the listening area from the speakers. It is recommended that you try different delay times to obtain the best effect. The delay is digitally synthesized, for the highest sound quality with minimum noise and distortion. The delay time can be set independently for each Surround mode with the current setting shown on the display. Delay Time Press the SPEAKER SET-UP button to set the delay time in the DOLBY DIGITAL/DOLBY PRO LOGIC modes. Adjust the delay time for the center or rear speakers by using the: 1. MULTIJOG/PRESET DOWN/UP on the system or by using the ADJUST +/- buttons on the remote. Then confirm it by pressing the CLEAR/SET button on the system or by pressing the SET button on the remote control. Surround Mode DOLBY DIGITAL DOLBY PRO LOGIC Adjustable Range 0 ~ 15 ms in 1ms step (S-Delay) 0 ~ 5 ms in 1ms step (C-Delay) 15 ~ 30 ms in 1ms step (S-Delay) ADJUSTING CENTER AND REAR CHANNELS TEST TONE adjustment When your system is in the Dolby Pro Logic, Dolby 3 stereo, Dolby Digital, HALL or THEATER surround sound mode the TEST TONE can be used to adjust the volume levels for the center and rear channels. According to the position of the SURROUND MODE, the test noise will be heard from each speaker for about 3 seconds in the following cycle. Rear Left (Surround) speaker . . . Sub Woofer . . . and continue to repeat until the Test Tone button is pressed again. As the test noise is being heard you may adjust the speaker volume of the center, rear (surround) and subwoofer speakers to the level most suited to your listening area or preference. NOTE: Front left and right speaker levels are adjusted by using the master volume control and balance control. You can adjust the individual levels of the center, rear left, rear right and subwoofer by using the following procedure . While the appropriate speaker's test noise is emitted, adjust the volume level by using the: 1. MULTIJOG/PRESET DOWN/UP on the system or by usingthe ADJUST +/- buttons on the remote. Then confirm it by pressing the CLEAR/SET button on the system or by pressing the SET button on the remote control.
