Manual abstract: user guide TERRATEC 512I QR

Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] Touch the metal chassis at the rear of the PC to ground yourself and discharge static. Now unplug the cord from the AC mains socket. Remove the cover from the case of your PC. Look for a free PCI expansion slot, remove the screw holding the slot blanking plate and remove the plate. [. . . ] Deactivate the check box "Change media (diskette, CDROM. . . )". Activate the check box "Enter the location:", enter the path <CD>:\Drivers\Win9x_ME\English and click on "Next". Alternatively, you can change to the relevant folder by clicking on "Browse". Confirm the next screen also by clicking on "Next". To complete the installation click "Finish". Installation under Windows 2000 Normally, Windows 2000 asks for the special driver signature as soon as a new driver has been recognised. The signature tells the system that Microsoft has tested the driver for its compatibility. As it will takes a while longer before the drivers have been signatured by all the hardware manufacturers, we recommend setting Windows 2000 to "Ignore" the driver signature, "Control panel" > "System" > "Hardware" -> "Driver signature". Insert the accompanying CD-ROM into your drive. After Windows starts, the "Found New Hardware Wizard" will start automatically. Choose "Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)" and click "Next". Activate "Enter another source" and click on "Next". Enter the path <CD>:\DRIVERS\WIN2000\English and click "OK". Click on "Next" again and confirm the following dialog with "Yes" in case the digital signature check has not been deactivated as previously described above. In the dialog which follows, 4 TerraTec 512i digital (English) click "Finish". Follow the instructions given by the hardware wizard. In addition to this, after the driver has been successfully installed under Windows 2000, you should set the Hardware Acceleration for the 512i digital record and playback operators to maximum. To do this, activate the "Sounds and Multimedia" window from ("Start" > "Settings" > "Control panel" > "Sounds and Multimedia") and change to the "Audio" field. Now set the Hardware acceleration to the maximum value, both for "Record" and for "Playback" ("Playback" > "Advanced" > "Performance" > "Hardware acceleration" > "Full" or "Record" > "Advanced" > "Performance" > "Hardware acceleration" > "Full"). Bundle software The bundle software supplied with the card can be easily started with the startup function. To do this, start AUTORUN. EXE in the root directory of the 512i digital CD and select the menu option "Software". Documentation A comprehensive FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) and information on the contents of the CD is provided on the 512i Digital Products CD. Support Please refer to the accompanying customer service card for more detailed information about the TerraTec hotline, and our mailbox and Internet range of services and products.
