Equipped with a self-winding movement, constructed with meticulous care from the finest materials and components, your watch is protected against shock loads, variations in temperature, water and dust. [. . . ] Set the time-zone dial; pull the crown into position II. By turning it to right you can match up the city shown in your time zone (3) with the local time on the 24-hour dial (2). Now your universal-time watch is correctly adjusted, and you can use the 24-hour dial (2) to read off the tune anywhere in the world. Example (see figure) : If your watch is showing the local time in New-York on its hours and minutes hands (10 : 00 hrs), you can look at the disc (2) to establish that it is 07 : 00 hrs in Los Angeles or 16 : 00 hrs in Paris. How your watch works Your universal-time watch has three different dials. Starting from the outside, the dials are : The 12-hour dial (1), fixed (engraved on the case bezel) : the hour, minute and seconds hands enable you to read off the local time and date as on a traditional watch. The 24-hour dial (2), fixed : this dial divides up die day into 24 hours. It enables you to read off the universal time : you know what time it is in New York, Tokyo or Bombay. The time-zone dial (3), indexable : this dial is divided into 24 time-zones. Consequently, it performs a complete rotation about its axis every 24 hours. For each time zone the dial shows a city* located in that zone*. As the minutes are the same in all time zones, you still read off de minutes from the 12-hour dial (1). * The time-zone map reproduced at the end of this booklet tells you the region in which each city is situated. In the following countries, local time differs by half an hour from the time-zone time : Iran, Afghanistan, India, Nepal, Burma, Singapore, the Northern Territory of Australia, South Australia, Newfoundland and Western Malaysia. Care and maintenance We would advise you to clean your watch regularly (except for the leather strap) using a soft cloth and warm soapy water. After immersion in salty water, rinse it in fresh water and leave it to dry completely. [. . . ] To restart it, you only need to turn the crown a few times (clockwise), or to tilt your watch from side to side a few times. To restore the power reserve of your watch to more than 42 hours, you need to turn the crown about 32 times (clockwise). Whenever you wear your watch, the automatic mechanism is wound every time you move your wrist. w w w. [. . . ]
