Product Name : DIGITAL AUDIO PLAYER Model Number(s) : MEG50AS Tested To Comply With FCC Standards FOR HOME OR OFFICE USE FCC Notice "Declaration of Conformity Information" Welcome This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. [. . . ] Neglecting this may cause product damage, malfunction, or loss of data. Do not remove the label from the HDD Card or attach other labels. Removing the label will void the HDD Card warranty and the right of post-purchase services. Do not write on the label with a hard-pointed pen or pencil, as this may result in damage to the cover, malfunction, or loss of data. Other Useful Information Getting Ready 14 Protection of Data in the HDD Card G When removing the HDD Card from the PC Card slot on your personal computer, always perform operations for quitting the use of the HDD Card. For details, see "Removing the HDD Card from a Personal Computer" in the owner's manual for MOBILPHILE Application Software. Removing the HDD Card without performing these operations may cause fatal damage to the system. G Do not turn off the power or remove the HDD Card when reading from or writing to the HDD Card. Neglecting this may cause data loss or product damage. G Before executing partition creation or formatting, confirm that it is safe to erase all the data on the HDD Card. Executing partition creation or formatting will erase all the data saved to the HDD Card. For details, see "Formatting the HDD Card" in the owner's manual for MOBILPHILE Application Software. G Periodically back up the data saved to the HDD Card to prevent data malfunction, data damage, or loss of data. Toshiba Corporation shall not be liable for damage or loss of data in the HDD Card. Welcome Getting Ready About Continuous Operations Do not continuously operate the product for an extended period of time (beyond 24 hours). When not operating the product, store it in its dedicated case. The supplied "TOSHIBA Audio Application" software is provided to transfer audio data to the HDD Card. For audio data transfer and the TOSHIBA Audio Application, consult the owner's manual for MOBILPHILE Application Software. Welcome With the HDD Card inserted into the player, audio data is transferred to the HDD Card. After transfer, the MEG50AS is used for playback. TOSHIBA Audio Application The TOSHIBA Audio Application Getting Ready Audio data Audio file MP3 WMA WAV) (MP3, WMA, WAV USB cable On a personal computer, you must first convert the contents of desired music CDs to audio data (MP3, WMA or WAV) using a software application such as Windows Media Player. Personal Computer HDD Card With the HDD Card inserted into a personal computer, audio data is transferred to the HDD Card. After transfer, the HDD Card is loaded into the player and then is used for playback. Personal Computer Important G G G The MEG50AS cannot play back audio data other than that transferred to the HDD Card using the TOSHIBA Audio Application. Audio data transferred to the HDD Card using the TOSHIBA Audio Application can be played back only on MOBILPHILE because it has been encrypted. Copy protection protocols do not permit audio data from one HDD Card to be copied to another HDD Card. 16 To Use this Player Follow the procedures below: Welcome Preparation 1 Preparing for the player: 1 Charge the built-in battery.
