The default display shows channel 16 in the US marine band, a 5 watt level and the purpose of the channel such as DISTRESS at the bottom edge. . Press or to change channels. If the channel has no carrier, the first press of PTT takes the radio out of scan mode. · Continuous transmitting is limited to 5 minutes by regulations. After this time, an error tone sounds and RELEASE PTT KEY displays. After you release PTT, pressing PTT restarts the 5-minute time interval again. Using the Radio Menu Options The MHS450 lets you select options that personalize your use of the radio and makes using it more convenient. Press MENU to access the multi-choice radio menu. RADIO MENU appears at the top of the screen. Press MENU again to return to the default marine mode or use or to move and highlight the desired menu option. Note: if during any of the following operations you fail to press a key or make a selection in more than 30 seconds, the radio returns to standard marine mode.
