Since that time, Victorinox has become known in more than 100 countries for precision, quality, functionality and versatility. This century old heritage has been extended to Victorinox Swiss Army Timepieces. [. . . ] Worn batteries should be replaced immediately. Substituting interchangeable batteries is not recommended. Battery change should be performed by a qualified technician who should also check the condition of the gaskets and the o-ring at the same time. Battery is not covered by the warranty. SET THE DECLINATION (FROM STANDBY MODE) See below* for declination explanation. A B C D >ALTERNATES< LONG PUSH LONG PUSH SHORT PUSH NOTE: Before setting declination, you must determine your declination based on your location. *See belowr more information. HOLD HORIZONTAL, just as a compass. Turn RIGHT for POSITIVE declination. One SHORT PUSH to validate. IMPORTANT Before using timepiece, please follow set-up procedures on reverse. SET THE DECLINATION AND COMPASS WHEN ANY OF THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS APPLY: A. Your position changes in regards to the current declination map C. Compass appears to be functioning improperly Short push = click button and release Long push = click button and hold for two seconds NOTE: When using your compass, hold parallel to ground (consult level for accuracy). USING THE COMPASS TO NAVIGATE COMPASS DIAL COMPASS CROWN 1 COMPASS MODE: FIND NORTH AND HEADING (FROM STANDBY MODE) CALIBRATE THE COMPASS (FROM DECLINATION MODE) HOLD HORIZONTAL, just as a compass and rotate clockwise two full rotations. A B C D CROWN PUSHER A LCD DISPLAY BUBBLE LEVEL NORTH INDICATOR SHORT PUSH NORTH 225° INCORRECT INCORRECT CORRECT Green arrow depicts True North while LCD display indicates direction you are heading (example for 225°) GREEN light indicates correct rotation speed. YELLOW light indicates if rotation speed is too fast or too slow. Rotate backward until GREEN lights again and proceed rotating. GREEN light shows compass is CALIBRATED. RED lights signal the calibration was unsuccessful and MUST BE REDONE. One SHORT PUSH to finalize. >BLINKS< >ALTERNATES< SHORT PUSH SHORT PUSH LONG PUSH 2 PATHFINDER MODE (FROM COMPASS MODE) PATHFINDER KEEPS YOU ON COURSE REACTIVATES EASILY SET THE DISPLAY REACTION TIME (FROM COMPASS CALIBRATION MODE) SET YOUR DESIRED HEADING A B TIME OPTIONS C TIME OPTIONS D 2x SHORT PUSH The PATHFINDER LED: indicates if the locked HEADING is followed on path (+/­ 0°-5°) off path (+/­ 5°-20°) off path (+/­ 20°-40°) off path (+/­ 40°-90°) out of range >ALTERNATES< SHORT PUSH LONG PUSH >BLINKS< SHORT PUSH >BLINKS< SHORT PUSH SHORT PUSH SHORT PUSH Point timepiece to desired direction and use one SHORT PUSH to lock in HEADING After 15 seconds, ST-5000 will go into pathfinder pause mode. SHORT PUSH NOTE: Initialization verifies that all LED and LCD elements are functioning properly: Each LED indicator and LCD digit will blink one time, one after the other. This includes the eight North indicators, the five PathFinder LED's and the three LCD digits. LONG PUSH Declination map is for illustrative purposes only. TO FLASH LED arrows at the four CARDINAL POINTS: three short pushes TO EXIT: three short pushes One LONG PUSH will start INITIALIZATION SEQUENCE.
