Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] Dear Customer, we thank you for the confidence you prove in purchasing our product. It will match your high demands towards sound and manufacturing quality. Though it is understandable that you want to plug and play this product instantaneously, we encourage you to read this manual carefully before installation. It will help you in handling and operating this machine in your system and obtaining the best possible performance, even if it was installed by your dealer. [. . . ] To make the most of the components' sound potential, only high quality loudspeakers and connecting cables, for example Vincent cables, should be used. Your local stockist will be glad to advise you about this. This main amplifier is equipped with a stereo audio input "INPUT" (7) on which the unit awaits the preamplified signal of two audio channels (for example "R" and "L" or "FRONT R" and "FRONT L"). This is the audio information that the SP-994 provides for one or two pairs of loudspeakers. Attention: No source with a standard line level signal ("LINE OUT") must be connected to this input. The SP-994 is equipped with two connectors for the power control one input (INPUT) and one output (EXT) connector. Both allow the amplifier to react to the switching signal and forward it to one more device at the same time. This main amplifier cannot generate the switching signal for other components on its own!If the SP-994 main amplifier is to be switched on/off automatically with the preamplifier, then the cable connections for power control described below must be made correctly and the "POWER" switch (2) must be moved to the switched off position. If you don't wish to use this function or if the other components do not support it, all you have to do is leave out these cable connections. Connect one POWER CONTROL output of a preamplifier, receiver or integrated amplifier with the socket "INPUT" (6) of this main amplifier. If this cable is attached, the second connector "EXT" (6) can be used to emit the switching signal to another POWER CONTROL capable device or it remains free. In theory it is possible to provide an infinite number of HiFi components with the Power Control signal. For this purpose, on most devices one of the two "POWER CONTROL" connectors may be used as a signal input and the other as a signal output. This approach, to loop a signal through a chain of components, is commonly referred to as "daisy chaining". Many devices which can be controlled by a switching signal (not preamplifiers or integrated amplifiers), have two terminals which do not differentiate between input and output. In this case either of the two can be selected. Even some devices that transmit the switch signal (preamplifiers and integrated preamplifiers) lack this marking. In this case it may be assumed that they both are signal outputs. "POWER CONTROL" sockets of preamplifiers or integrated amplifiers must not be interconnected! All receiving devices must not be connected to more than one preamplifier or integrated amplifier (directly or indirectly)! If a "POWER CONTROL" cable is connected to the back of the main amplifier and the 12V switching signal is given, the main amplifier can no longer be switched off with the "POWER" button. [. . . ] A record player has been connected to a line level input of the preamplifier without using a phono preamplifier. An audio source with standard line level output (example: CD player) is connected to the main amplifier direct "INPUT" (7). Do not connect line level audio sources at the main amplifier inputs. The source equipment is giving signal on only one channel. [. . . ]
