Locate the battery cover on the bottom of the unit. Use a coin or a screwdriver to loosen the screw. Install 4 new `AA' (AM-3/LR6) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF To preserve battery life, the VTech® Counting Fun Elephant will automatically power-down after approximately 30 seconds without input. The unit can be turned on again by pressing any button. TM ACTIVITIES 1. In Learning Mode, press the piano keys to learn numbers, animals and colors. The light will flash with the sounds. 2. In Music Mode, press the piano keys to hear animal sounds and melodies. The light will flash with the sounds. 3. In either mode, twist the elephant's ears to start the ball popper. Hear fun melodies as the balls pop up in the air. While the balls are popping, slide the bird to choose the balls' path. If the bird is on the left, the balls will go back into the elephant's trunk and through the popper. If the bird is on the right, the balls will drop down and roll over the piano keys.
