For Mac OS X 1 Select Go in the menu bar, then Applications, Utilities, Apple System Profiler, and Device and Volume tab. 20 2 Check that "CRW4416" is shown in the "FireWire" item. "CRW4416" Note · If the "FireWire" item is not shown, the FireWire interface of the computer is not recognized by the Mac OS X. Contact the manufacturer of the computer. · If "CRW4416" is not shown even with the "FireWire" item shown, the CRWF1DX drive is not recognized by Mac OS. For details about how to check recognition of the CRW4416 drive with the CD writing software, refer to the instruction for the CD writing software. 21 Preparing the CRW4416 Drive (Macintosh ­ USB) Connect with USB for Macintosh Note Place the CRW4416 drive horizontally. 1 2 Remove all additional USB devices connected to the computer, and turn on the computer. Be sure that the power switch of the CRW4416 drive is turned off (STANDBY). 3 Set the 1394/USB selector of the CRW4416 drive to USB. Note Be sure to set the 1394/USB selector while the power switch of the CRW4416 is turned off (STANDBY). Interface cannot be switched if the power switch is on. 22 4 Connect the included USB cable to the CRW4416 drive. The included USB cable has two types of plugs: Series A plug and Series B plug. Series A plug Series B plug Insert the Series B plug (with a quadratic section) of the included USB cable to the USB port of the CRW4416 drive. Constant Linear Velocity (CLV) The disc rotation speed is adjusted to the data transfer rate while writing/reading data. Constant Angular Velocity (CAV) The data transfer rate is adjusted to keep the disc rotation speed while writing/ reading data. The Full CAV method employs CAV all through data writing/reading. Partial CAV The CAV method is employed for inner tracks of a disc and the CLV method for outer tracks while writing/reading data.
