The tilt-lock mechanism does not work while the shallow water cruising system is being used. Hitting an underwater obstacle could cause the engine to lift out of the water, resulting in loss of control. 8 Use extra care when operating in reverse. Too much reverse thrust can cause the engine to lift out of the water, increasing the chance of accident and personal injury. 8 Return the engine to its normal position as soon as the boat is back in deeper water. cC Place the gear-shift in the Neutral position before using the shallow water cruising system. 3-28 E EMG71211 N PROCEDURE Manual tilt model 1) Place the gear shift lever in the neutral position. 406023* 2) Place the tilt lock lever in the release position. 402016 3) Slightly tilt up the engine.
