Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] If you have any questions concerning the operation or maintenance of your motorcycle, please consult a Yamaha dealer. The design and manufacture of this Yamaha motorcycle fully comply with the emissions standards for clean air applicable at the date of manufacture. Yamaha has met these standards without reducing the performance or economy of operation of the motorcycle. To maintain these high standards, it is important that you and your Yamaha dealer pay close attention to the recommended maintenance schedules and operating instructions contained within this manual. [. . . ] Since heat and deposits will cause any spark plug to slowly erode, the spark plug should be removed and checked in accordance with the periodic maintenance and lubrication chart. In addition, the condition of the spark plug can reveal the condition of the engine. Check the spark plug for electrode erosion and excessive carbon or other deposits, and replace it if necessary. Specified spark plug: NGK/CR6HSA DENSO/U20FSR-U 1. Spark plug wrench To check the spark plug 1. Check that the porcelain insulator around the center electrode of the spark plug is a medium-to-light tan (the ideal color when the vehicle is ridden normally). NOTE: If the spark plug shows a distinctly different color, the engine could be operating improperly. Do not attempt to diagnose such problems yourself. Instead, have a Yamaha dealer check the vehicle. To install the spark plug 1. Measure the spark plug gap with a wire thickness gauge and, if necessary, adjust the gap to specification. Remove the spark plug as shown, with the spark plug wrench included in the owner's tool kit. Spark plug gap: 0. 60. 7 mm (0. 0240. 028 in) 6-7 PERIODIC MAINTENANCE AND MINOR REPAIR 2.
