Newly enhanced for the Tyros4, Vocal Harmony features a new harmonygenerating engine (called VH2) that provides extraordinarily realistic harmonies, quickly and accurately tracking the pitch of your singing, and effectively maintaining the natural qualities of your voice in the harmony parts. Included in the feature is a Synth Vocoder effect, also newly enhanced for the Tyros4. Synth Vocoder lets you graft the unique characteristics of your voice onto synthesizer and other sounds, for unusual machinelike or robotic effects, as well as luscious choir sounds, which you can control with your own singing and playing. The Synth Vocoder is a complex effect that mimics the workings of the human voice. This effect extracts the natural filter characteristics of the voice from the microphone input and recreates the vocal formants by the use of multiple band pass filters. The machine-like `robot' voice is created by passing the pitched sounds of musical instruments (such as a synthesizer sound) through the filters. Both Vocal Harmony and Synth Vocoder have an extensive set of detailed parameters, giving you comprehensive, flexible control of the sound. VH2 Structure Vocal Harmony Mode Lets you automatically apply harmony vocals in three different sub modes (Chordal, Vocoder and Vocoder-Mono) to your voice as you sing into the connected microphone. Icon Sub-mode Chordal Effect The harmony notes are determined by the following three types of chord control: 1 Chords played in the chord section of the keyboard (with the (Microphone) [ACMP] turned on. ) 2 Chords played in the LEFT Voice section of the keyboard (with the [ACMP] turned off and [LEFT] turned on. ) 3 Chords contained in Song data for controlling the harmony. (Not available if the Song does not contain any chord data. ) The harmony notes are determined in the same way as in Microphone above. However, effects such as Vocal Doubler and Short Delay are applied. Harmony may or may not be applied depending on the selected type. (If harmony is not applied, the [VOCAL HARMONY] button is not lit. ) Vocoder The harmony notes are determined by the notes you play on the keyboard and/or Song data. You can specify whether the Vocoder effect is controlled by your keyboard performance or by the Song data. The harmony notes are determined in the same way as in Vocoder above. However for the Mono mode, the harmonies apply only to the sound of the last-pressed key. (Microphone with FX) (Microphone and keyboard) Synth Vocoder Mode (Microphone and carrier) VocoderMono Lets you graft the unique characteristics of your voice onto synthesizer and other sounds, for unusual machinelike or robotic effects, as well as luscious choir sounds, which you can control with your own singing and playing. The sub-mode of each Type can be edited. For information on editing, refer to the Reference Manual on the website.
