To maintain these high standards, it is important that you and your Yamaha dealer pay close attention to the recommended maintenance schedules and operating instructions contained within this manual. Place the vehicle on a level surface and hold it in an upright position. NOTE: Make sure that the vehicle is positioned straight up when checking the oil level. A slight tilt to the side can result in a false reading. Start the engine, warm it up for several minutes, and then turn it off. Wait a few minutes until the oil settles, and then check the oil level through the check window located at the bottom-left side of the crankcase. NOTE: The engine oil should be between the minimum and maximum level marks. This model is equipped with a canister to prevent the discharging of fuel vapor into the atmosphere. G Check each hose and canister for cracks or damage. G Make sure the vent hose is not blocked. If the engine oil is at or below the minimum level mark, add sufficient oil of the recommended type to raise it to the correct level.
