Check: S fuel feed hoses S fuel hoses Cracks/damage/wear !Blow out the hoses with compressed air. 5-5 CARBURETOR EB600042 CARB ASSEMBLING THE CARBURETORS The following procedure applies to both of the carburetors. CAUTION: S Before assembling the carburetors, wash all of the parts in a petroleum-based solvent. Install: S coasting enricher diaphragm S coasting enricher spring S coasting enricher cover NOTE: S Align the holes a on the coasting enricher diaphragm with the projections b in the carburetor body. S When installing the coasting enricher, position the throttle connecting arm 1 as shown. Install: S connecting bolts NOTE: After installing the connecting bolts, check that the throttle cable lever and starter plunger link operate smoothly. EB600051 INSTALLING THE CARBURETORS 1. Adjust: S carburetor synchronization Refer to "SYNCHRONIZING THE CARBURETORS" in chapter 3. Adjust: S engine idling speed Engine idling speed 950 X 1, 050 r/min Refer to "ADJUSTING THE ENGINE IDLING SPEED" in chapter 3. Adjust: S throttle cable free play Throttle cable free play (at the flange of the throttle grip) 4 X 6 mm Refer to "ADJUSTING THE THROTTLE CABLE FREE PLAY" in chapter 3. 5-6 CARBURETOR EB600063 CARB MEASURING AND ADJUSTING THE FUEL LEVEL 1. Measure: S fuel level a Out of specification !Fuel level (above the line on the float chamber) 4 X 5 mm a. Stand the motorcycle on a level surface. Place the motorcycle on a suitable stand to ensure that the motorcycle is standing straight up. Install the fuel level gauge 1 to the fuel drain pipe 2 . Hold the fuel level gauge vertically next to the upper face of the float chamber 4 . NOTE: Fuel level readings should be equal on both sides of the carburetor assembly. 2. Check the needle valve seat and needle valve. If either is worn, replace them as a set. If both are fine, adjust the float level by slightly bending the float tang 1 .
