The plates and their bases can, however, be cleaned occasionally using fine sandpaper. The base of the plates in special steel will stay impeccable if cleaned with hot water and vinigar. We advise you to grease the surface of the plates from time to time with a non-acid fat (cooking oil, sewing machine oil or vaseline). Products for care and maintenance are available commercially.
