[. . . ] Please fill in the necessary details on the Card Certificate and send it to the Zanussi Centre covering the area in which the appliance is to be installed. Read this instruction manual carefully and follow the recommendations it provides to benefit from years of excellent service. Nevertheless, should any problem arise during usage, whether it be during the warranty period, or when such period has expired, please contact your nearest Zanussi Service Centre immediately. [. . . ] mains supply, make sure that the voltage and frequency shown on the rating plate correspond to your home supply. A 6% fluctuation above or below the rated voltage is admissible. To adapt the appliance to other voltages, use an autotransformer having a minimum output of 500 VA. Important It is essential that the appliance be connected to an efficient earth tap. For this purpose the supply cable plug incorporates a special earth contact. If the sockets of your domestic wiring system are not grounded, have the appliance connected to a separate ground wire by a qualified electrician in accordance with the existing safety regulations. The manufacturer declines to accept any liability should this safety rule not be observed. 87/308 of 2. 6. 87 relative to radio interference suppression. This appliance complies with the following E. E. C. Directives: - 73/23 EEC of 19. 2. 73 (Low Voltage Directive) and subsequent modifications; - 89/336 EEC of 3. 5. 89 (Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive) and subsequent modifications. Location Place the appliance away from all heat sources, such as: radiators, heating stoves, direct sunlight, etc. The best results are achieved with a room temperature ranging from +18°C to +38°C (class ST) or from +18°C to +43°C (class T). The temperature is adjusted automatically and may be increased (less cold) by turning the knob towards the lower settings or may be decreased (more cold) by turning it towards the higher settings. The correct position, however, must be selected by taking into account that the internal temperature depends on the following factors: room temperature; the number of times the door is opened; the amount of stored food; the location of the appliance. The operation is interrupted by turning the control knob until its pointer coincides with symbol «O». Important If the ambient temperature is high, the thermostat knob is on the coldest setting (higher numbers) and the appliance is fully loaded, the compressor may run continuously, causing frost or ice to form on the evaporator. If this happens, turn the knob to a warmer setting (lower numbers) to allow automatic defrosting and so a saving in electricity consumption. Storage of foods in refrigerator compartment To achieve the best results with the refrigerator compartment, you should follow some very simple rules: Do not put warm foods or evaporating liquids in the refrigerator; cover or wrap foods (particularly if they have a strong smell or contain aromatic herbs); do not cover the shelves with paper or plastic since this blocks the air circulation in the compartment. Please note: Do not place foodstuffs and paperbags etc. in contact with the evaporator plate at the rear of the refrigerator compartment as this can lead to impairment of the operation of the refrigerator. In addition, food should be positioned inside the refrigerator compartment as indicated in the figure that is given below: 1. In this position, fresh meat can be stored for 1-2 days at most. 4 1 2 3 D171 Further hints for getting the best out of your refrigerator are the following: Cooked food, cold dishes, jellies etc. , should be well covered. Fruit and vegetables should be washed before being stored. [. . . ] Otherwise they should be used up very quickly or cooked and refrozen. Remember that, once thawed, frozen food deteriorates rapidly. Periodically clean the defrosting water drainage hole of the refrigerator, using the special cleaner already inserted into the discharge hole. 8 D037 Thawing Deep-frozen or frozen food, prior to being used, can be thawed in the refrigerator compartment or at room temperature, depending on the time available for this operation. Small pieces may even be cooked still frozen, directly from the freezer: in this case, cooking will take longer. The freezer compartment, however, will become progressively covered with frost.
